What the WD-1 Does

The TrolMaster WD-1 is a water-presence sensor purpose-built for the Aqua-X and Hydro-X irrigation control ecosystems. It operates in two distinct modes depending on placement and configuration. In passive mode, the detector sits on the floor or any leak-prone surface and fires an alert the moment it makes contact with water — flagging a line burst, overflow, or fitting failure before the damage compounds. In active verification mode, the sensor is assigned to a specific irrigation output (solenoid valve or pump), placed where runoff or delivery water should appear, and is tasked with confirming that each scheduled watering event actually delivers water within a user-adjustable delay window. If the event fires but no water reaches the sensor, the controller sends an 'irrigation failure' alert to the operator's smartphone via the TrolMaster app.

Who This Sensor Is Built For

Any licensed cannabis or hemp facility running TrolMaster's Aqua-X or Hydro-X controllers and relying on automated irrigation schedules across multiple zones should have WD-1 units deployed. One important compatibility note from TrolMaster: the WD sensors are rated to detect municipal water, well water, and nutrient-infused water. Reverse osmosis (RO) water with very low dissolved solids content may not trigger detection reliably, so position sensors downstream of nutrient injection points in RO-fed systems.

What happens if the sensor detects a leak versus an irrigation failure — are the alerts different?

An irrigation failure alert fires when the assigned output activates but the WD-1 does not detect water within the configured delay period, indicating a pump or solenoid failure.
