The Apera PH850-WW is a portable handheld pH meter from Apera's Value Series, model designation AI5531. It is engineered specifically for professional pH measurement of wastewater, effluents, emulsions, and turbid water solutions that contain sulfides and proteins — media types that foul or clog conventional electrodes quickly.
The kit ships with Apera's Swiss-technology LabSen® 333 POM-body 3-in-1 pH/Temperature electrode. The POM (polyoxymethylene) body is chemically resistant to corrosion, and the probe's open-junction design ensures full contact with solution while resisting clog buildup — no electrolyte refill required. Apera's proprietary blue gel inner solution is non-flowing, eliminating air bubble formation and improving measurement stability even when the probe is held upside-down.

Yes. The LabSen 333 electrode also works with general water solutions, so the same meter can handle fertigation runoff, irrigation water, and sump monitoring. That said, if your primary use case is clean nutrient solution in hydro systems, the standard PH850 or a pocket tester may be a better fit — the PH850-WW's electrode is optimized for dirty water.
Yes. In mV mode, the PH850-WW supports ORP measurement when an ORP probe is connected. The compatible ORP probe is the Apera 301Pt-C, which is sold separately.
After completing a 2- or 3-point calibration, the meter displays the electrode slope value. A slope outside the normal range (typically below ~85% or above ~105%) indicates a degrading probe. The self-diagnosis function will also flag electrode invalidation automatically. Replacement LabSen 333 electrodes are available — contact HSC to add one to your order.
