TrolMaster Low-Volt Station

Automate any 12–24V device inside your Hydro-X or Aqua-X control system.

The TrolMaster DSV-1 Low-Volt Station is a configurable low-voltage output module that brings solenoids, irrigation valves, audio/visual alarms, and other 12–24V AC/DC devices under full Hydro-X or Aqua-X controller automation — addressable as a temperature, humidity, CO₂, or timer-driven node.

What the DSV-1 Does

The TrolMaster DSV-1 is a low-voltage output expansion module designed for the Hydro-X, Hydro-X Pro, and Aqua-X environmental control ecosystems. Where standard TrolMaster device stations switch line-voltage loads like fans and dehumidifiers, the DSV-1 handles the low-voltage control signals that many commercial-grade devices require — think 24VAC solenoids on irrigation manifolds, 12VDC motorized valves, or audio/visual alarm panels that need an external trigger rather than a switched outlet.

Once wired and addressed, the module operates as a fully integrated node inside the controller's logic. The Hydro-X or Aqua-X sends the command; the DSV-1 switches the output. The user never has to manage the low-voltage device independently — it responds to the same day/night setpoints, CO₂ thresholds, humidity targets, or timer schedules already programmed into the controller.

Configurable Control Mode — Four Options

The DSV-1 is addressable to four distinct control modes, set at the module level: temperature, humidity, CO₂, or timer. Assign it as a temperature station and it will activate the connected device based on temp thresholds dialed in at the controller. Assign it as a CO₂ station and it can trigger a solenoid to open a CO₂ line or actuate a vent. Assign it as a timer and it runs on a programmed on/off schedule independent of environmental readings. This flexibility is what makes the DSV-1 useful beyond irrigation — it can serve as the switching backbone for any low-voltage device that needs conditional or scheduled activation inside a controlled cultivation environment.

Output voltage is user-selectable per application: 12VDC or 24VDC up to 0.5 amps, or 12VAC or 24VAC up to 4.8VA. Most commercial solenoids and control-input devices fall within these ranges, so a single DSV-1 SKU covers the majority of low-volt integration scenarios without requiring a custom adapter or relay.

Manual Override and LCD Interface

The DSV-1 includes an on-unit LCD display for status visibility and a manual override function: pressing and holding the top button toggles the module's output ON or OFF independent of the controller's current state. This matters during commissioning, irrigation system troubleshooting, or any scenario where you need to test a solenoid or valve without triggering a controller routine. No menu navigation required — hold the button, confirm the output state on the LCD, release.

The module ships plug-and-play, using the same RJ12 daisy-chain bus architecture as every other TrolMaster station. Included cables (16 ft and 4 ft RJ12) and an RJ12 T-splitter cover initial installation without additional hardware. Addressing is handled at the module using the standard TrolMaster address-assignment process.

Where the DSV-1 Fits in a Commercial Build

In a licensed commercial facility running a Hydro-X or Aqua-X controller, the DSV-1 fills the integration gap for low-voltage peripheral devices that have no line-voltage switched output option. Common deployments include: 24VAC irrigation solenoids on zone manifolds, motorized CO₂ enrichment valves, low-voltage nutrient dosing triggers, alarm panels with 12–24V input requirements, and any low-volt actuator that needs to respond to an environmental threshold rather than running on a manual schedule.

Multiple DSV-1 modules can be addressed on the same controller bus, each assigned to a different control mode and a different device. An operator might run one as a CO₂ valve trigger, a second on a humidity-driven irrigation solenoid, and a third on a timed flush valve — all managed from a single Hydro-X controller. The operating environment rating of 32–122°F at up to 90% relative humidity makes it suitable for deployment in high-VPD veg rooms and high-humidity propagation environments alike.

Frequently Asked Questions

What controllers is the DSV-1 compatible with?

The DSV-1 is compatible with the TrolMaster Hydro-X (HCS-1), Hydro-X Pro (HCS-2), and Aqua-X controllers. It uses the standard RJ12 bus shared across the TrolMaster module ecosystem and is addressed to the controller the same way as any other DS-series station.

What kinds of devices can the DSV-1 control?

Any device requiring 12–24V AC or DC to operate — including irrigation solenoids, motorized valves, CO₂ line valves, and audio/visual alarm panels. If the device has a low-voltage control input in that range, the DSV-1 can switch it based on temperature, humidity, CO₂, or a timer schedule set in the Hydro-X or Aqua-X controller.

How is the output voltage selected?

Voltage selection is made at the module level by the user. You can choose 12VDC, 24VDC, 12VAC, or 24VAC depending on the device being controlled. DC outputs support up to 0.5A; AC outputs support up to 4.8VA.

Can I manually trigger the DSV-1 without going through the controller?

Yes. Pressing and holding the top button on the DSV-1 manually overrides the module and toggles the output ON or OFF. The LCD display confirms the current output state. This is useful for testing valves or solenoids during system commissioning or troubleshooting without running a controller routine.

Can I run multiple DSV-1 modules on one controller?

Yes. Multiple DSV-1 modules can be addressed on the same controller bus, each assigned to a different control mode and controlling a different device. Each module is independently addressable, so one can operate as a CO₂ valve trigger while another runs on a timed irrigation schedule — all managed from the same Hydro-X or Aqua-X controller.
