What the TSS-1 Is

The TrolMaster TSS-1 Touch Spot + T-Split Extension Cable is a sensor expansion set designed specifically for the WD-1 Water Detector module inside the TrolMaster Aqua-X Irrigation Control System. Out of the box, the WD-1 ships with one Touch Spot — the flat, floor-level contact sensor that triggers a leak or flood alert the moment it contacts water. The TSS-1 adds a second Touch Spot and the T-splitter needed to run both sensors off a single WD-1 port.

Connection is entirely RJ12-based. Plug the T-splitter into the WD-1's Touch Spot port, then run each Touch Spot to its intended monitoring location. No tools, no wiring, no firmware changes — the WD-1 recognizes both sensors automatically through the existing Aqua-X addressing framework.

Where It Fits in a Commercial Build

A single WD-1 module is useful. A WD-1 with two strategically placed Touch Spots is how production-scale operators build real coverage. In a multi-row coco or rockwool room, that means one Touch Spot at the drain end of the tray run and a second near the irrigation manifold — catching both supply-side failures and runoff confirmation from the same module.

Common placement scenarios include: monitoring floor drains and tray runoff simultaneously, watching two separate reservoir zones for overflow, placing sensors at multiple points under a long irrigation line to catch pinhole leaks before they become floor floods, and confirming runoff at both ends of a multi-tier vertical rack. The WD-1 can also be assigned to a specific controlled output on the Aqua-X so that if neither Touch Spot detects water within the expected window after a pump or solenoid fires, the system sends an irrigation failure alert — making the TSS-1 equally valuable for watering confirmation as it is for passive leak detection.

Key Features

The Touch Spot sensor itself is rated for grow room conditions: operating temperature range of 32 °F to 122 °F and relative humidity up to 90%, covering the high-moisture environments typical of commercial cannabis and hemp facilities. Both the Touch Spot and T-splitter use the same RJ12 connector standard as the rest of the TrolMaster ecosystem, so there's no adapter hardware and no compatibility guesswork.

Because the TSS-1 uses the existing WD-1 module rather than requiring a second module purchase, it's a straightforward way to increase detection coverage without adding another addressed device to the Aqua-X bus. For large facilities running near the 25-WD-1-per-Aqua-X limit, that headroom matters. Plug-and-play installation means setup takes minutes and can be reconfigured as the facility layout changes — useful during phased buildouts or seasonal canopy adjustments.

System Compatibility & Integration Notes

The TSS-1 is designed for use with the TrolMaster WD-1 Water Detector within the Aqua-X Irrigation Control System platform (compatible with Aqua-X, Aqua-X Pro, and Aqua-X Plus controllers). It is sold as an add-on to an existing WD-1; you need the WD-1 module already in your system before adding the TSS-1.

One important note from TrolMaster: the Touch Spot water detectors are optimized for municipal, well, or nutrient-infused water. Pure RO water, due to extremely low dissolved solids content, may not reliably trigger the sensor — a relevant consideration for facilities running RO-only water before nutrient injection. Plan sensor placement downstream of your injectors or mixing point if your source water is high-purity RO.
