What the Tent-X TCS-1 Is

The TrolMaster Tent-X (TCS-1) is a single-zone environmental and irrigation controller designed specifically for grow tents and compact indoor cultivation rooms. It consolidates what typically requires two separate systems — TrolMaster's Hydro-X climate logic and Aqua-X irrigation logic — into one compact, wall-mounted unit. The included MBS-TH sensor reads temperature, relative humidity, and ambient light simultaneously, feeding real-time data into the controller's onboard LCD interface. From that single screen, you set Day and Night climate targets, configure lighting schedules and dimming thresholds, and build irrigation programs for pumps and valves. The controller connects to the internet via a hardwired Ethernet connection, enabling remote monitoring and control through the TM+ Pro smartphone app. When any parameter breaches your configured alarm limits, the app pushes an alert immediately — so you don't need to be on-site to catch a problem before it becomes a crop event.

Lighting Control — Dual Independent Channels

The TCS-1 has two dedicated RJ12 lighting control ports (Line 1 and Line 2) on the bottom of the unit. Each channel operates independently, so you can run two different light types, two different brands, or split a single space into two lighting zones — each with its own on/off timer, sunrise/sunset ramp settings, temperature-triggered dimming setpoint, and output power percentage. Light type selection (HID or LED) is configured per channel. TrolMaster's range of lighting adapters covers the vast majority of LED and HID fixtures on the market, including those using 0-10V dimming protocols. Up to seven light control adapters can be connected across the two lighting ports. This level of per-channel independent control — including 1% dimming increments when paired with compatible LED fixtures — is one of the meaningful functional differences between the TCS-1 and simpler single-channel tent controllers.

Modular Sensor and Device Expansion

Out of the box, the TCS-1's SENSOR port accepts the included MBS-TH and supports daisy-chaining additional sensors: the MBS-S8 CO2 sensor, the MBS-PAR full-spectrum quantum sensor, and smoke and water detectors can all be added to the same sensor chain without additional hubs. For substrate and reservoir monitoring, an AMP-3 sensor board connects to the TCS-1 and bridges to water content sensors (WCS-1 or WCS-2) or a WD-1 water leak detector. On the device side, the system supports up to four DS-type plug-in control modules — used to connect and automate temperature, humidity, CO2, and four programmable (P1–P4) irrigation or climate devices such as pumps, valves, fans, and humidifiers. Users who need a clean multi-outlet setup can add TrolMaster's 4RS-2 Device Station Kit, which gives four independently controlled AC outlets directly off the controller. The SPH1 8-port splitter hub is also compatible for larger device chains.

Total connected capacity: up to 14 climate, medium, water, and nutrient sensors across the two sensor and device ports; up to 16 temperature, humidity, and program devices. This modular architecture means a basic tent build can start with the included sensor and expand incrementally as the operation scales — without replacing the controller.

Who This Controller Fits and How It Fits a Build

The TCS-1 is the right tool for a single-zone cultivation space that outgrew a basic timer-and-thermostat setup but doesn't require the full multi-zone capability of TrolMaster's Hydro-X Pro line. Typical use cases include tent-based micro grows, single-room craft cannabis production, R&D or pheno-hunting spaces, and propagation or mother rooms running on a discrete zone. Because irrigation scheduling — including single schedules, multiple schedules, and recycle timer modes — is built into the TCS-1 alongside climate control, operators using coco, rockwool, or any substrate requiring timed fertigation can manage the full feed program from one interface. Setup is wall-mount via the included backplate bracket; the MBS-TH sensor hangs perpendicular to canopy and fixtures via the included RJ12 cable. Remote management runs through the TM+ Pro app, available on iOS and Android, connected over Ethernet. For operators running compatible 0-10V dimmable fixtures, the 1%-increment dimming control is a concrete operational advantage over coarser-resolution controllers in this category.
