Mineral salt–fortified seaweed and B1 tonic for roots, transplants, and canopy health.
TechnaFlora Thrive Alive B1 Red is a liquid kelp-and-vitamin B1 supplement formulated to reduce transplant stress, accelerate root establishment, and support vigorous vegetative and early-flowering growth. Compatible with soil, soilless, and hydroponic systems — applied as a root-zone drench or foliar spray.
Thrive Alive B1 Red is TechnaFlora's mineral salt–fortified seaweed tonic — a liquid supplement built around three species of British Columbian kelp (Macrocystis, Nereocystis, and Ascophyllum) and 0.09% thiamine (vitamin B1). Its balanced 1-1-1 NPK provides a low-level, broad-spectrum nutrient base, while the kelp fraction delivers naturally occurring growth-supporting compounds that prime the root zone for increased uptake.
The Red label is specifically fortified with mineral salt nutrients — potassium nitrate, monopotassium phosphate, diammonium phosphate, and potassium hydroxide — which distinguishes it from the OMRI-listed Green label formulation. Both versions carry the same 1-1-1 analysis and kelp foundation, but Red is the preferred option for conventional cultivation programs where certified organic inputs are not required.
Thrive Alive B1 Red has two primary entry points in a production cycle: the propagation / transplant stage and the ongoing vegetative-through-early-flower period. During propagation, it functions as a root-zone drench used at the time of taking cuttings or moving transplants, helping minimize abiotic stress and supporting rapid establishment of new root tissue. Licensed cannabis operators running continuous clone cycles benefit from a consistent B1 application at the tray level before plants move to veg.
Through the vegetative cycle and into the first week of flower, it is used as a foliar spray to maintain canopy health, support cellular division at internodes, and keep leaves lush under high-intensity lighting. It is also used as a rejuvenator applied to mother plants prior to taking cuttings, keeping stock plants in a consistently productive state across successive cut rounds. Its compatibility with soil, coco, and recirculating hydro systems makes it easy to slot into most nutrient programs without additional protocol changes.
Three-kelp source blend — Macrocystis, Nereocystis, and Ascophyllum — cultured from British Columbia waters, providing a naturally complex seaweed fraction rather than a single-species extract. Mineral salt fortification (potassium nitrate, MKP, DAP, potassium hydroxide) gives the Red formulation a modest but usable NPK contribution on top of the B1 and kelp actives.
Application flexibility is a practical strength: the same product runs as a soil or coco drench, a hydroponic reservoir additive, a root-soak at transplant, or a dilute foliar spray. This reduces the number of separate SKUs a facility needs to carry for transplant and canopy support. The liquid concentrate format mixes readily into solution at low use rates, and the 1L bottle size is appropriate for production facilities ranging from small propagation operations up to multi-thousand-square-foot grow rooms building out their nutrient inventory.
Thrive Alive B1 Red is a standard fixture in TechnaFlora's own published feeding schedules and pairs directly with the BC Grow / BC Bloom / BC Boost base nutrient system, as well as with TechnaFlora's Rootech Cloning Gel during the propagation phase. When used as a soil drench at the time of taking cuttings, it creates favorable root-zone conditions that complement the cloning gel's rooting action.
For facilities already running TechnaFlora's full recipe program, the Red label integrates without any compatibility concerns across the veg and early-flower windows. Facilities that require OMRI-certified inputs for any part of their operation should evaluate the Thrive Alive Green label instead. Thrive Alive B1 Red is available through HSC in the 1L size (SKU: TF-BRED-1L); larger format sizes are available — contact HSC for volume pricing and availability.

Both share the same 1-1-1 NPK profile and British Columbian sea kelp base. The Green label is OMRI listed for certified organic production. The Red label is fortified with mineral salt nutrients (potassium nitrate, MKP, DAP, potassium hydroxide), making it the conventional cultivation option. If your operation doesn't require organic certification, Red is the standard choice.
Foliar spray: ½ tsp per quart of water — do not apply under active HID or direct sun to avoid foliage burn; spray one week after transplant, then every two weeks. Root soak / transplanting: ½ tsp per quart, soak roots for 15 minutes before transplanting. Soil or general watering: ½ Tbsp per gallon of water. Hydroponics reservoir: ½ Tbsp per gallon of nutrient solution.
Yes. It is compatible with hydroponic systems and can be added directly to the reservoir at ½ Tbsp per gallon of nutrient solution. Its mineral salt–based nutrient profile is fully water-soluble and does not introduce organic particulates that could foul drip emitters or pumps.
Primary windows are: (1) propagation and transplanting — as a root soak and drench to minimize transplant shock and promote root establishment; (2) vegetative cycle — as a foliar spray and/or drench to support lush canopy growth; and (3) early flower (week 1) — continued foliar use to support the transition. It is also used on mother plants before cutting rounds to keep stock plants productive.
For smaller propagation programs or facilities trialing the product, 1L is a practical entry point. TechnaFlora also offers Thrive Alive B1 Red in 4L and 10L formats.
