What the MBS-GH Does

The MBS-GH is TrolMaster's dedicated 4-in-1 environmental sensor for the Green-X greenhouse control platform. In a single housing it reads four parameters: air temperature, relative humidity, CO2 concentration in parts per million, and a photocell that signals the GCS-1 controller whether the space is in day or night mode. All four data streams feed the controller simultaneously over the standard TrolMaster RJ12 bus, keeping wiring simple in a production greenhouse.

Every GCS-1 Green-X controller ships with one MBS-GH included. This listing is the standalone replacement unit — the part you need when a sensor reaches end of life, is damaged, or when you're adding a second controller set to an expanded zone that requires its own dedicated sensor node.

Where It Fits in a Commercial Greenhouse Build

The GCS-1 is designed for licensed greenhouse operations running irrigation, climate, CO2, lighting, and curtain/vent motor control under one modular system. The MBS-GH is the primary indoor environment input for that controller — without it, the GCS-1 has no source for temperature, humidity, or CO2 data and cannot execute climate-based automation logic.

For facilities running multiple GCS-1 zones — separate bays, separate houses, phased expansions — each controller set requires its own MBS-GH. The sensor connects to the RJ12 SENSORS port on the bottom of the GCS-1 unit. Additional sensors (weather station MBS-WS, quantum sensor MBS-PAR, smoke detector MBS-SD) connect alongside it and extend the system's monitoring capability without replacing the MBS-GH's core climate role.

The Green-X platform also supports up to 10 DS-type plug-in device modules, 96 scheduled irrigation outputs, and integration with curtain motor controllers — all of which rely on accurate MBS-GH readings to trigger properly.

Four parameters in one probe means fewer penetrations through grow walls or ceiling panels, less cabling, and a single failure point to monitor rather than four separate sensors. The integrated photocell handles automatic day/night mode switching in the GCS-1 without requiring a separate light sensor or manual schedule override — useful in greenhouse environments where natural light and supplemental lighting interact.

CO2 monitoring through the MBS-GH feeds directly into the GCS-1's climate logic, allowing the system to manage supplemental CO2 delivery in response to real measured PPM rather than a timer. Paired with the GCS-1's data logging capability and the free TrolMaster mobile app, operators get historical trend data on all four parameters — useful for compliance documentation, crop steering records, and identifying environmental drift between inspection cycles.

The plug-and-play RJ12 connection means field replacement requires no re-configuration of the controller. Swap the sensor, reconnect the cable, and the GCS-1 resumes reading from the new unit.

Ordering & Compatibility Notes

The MBS-GH is exclusively designed for the TrolMaster Green-X (GCS-1) control system. It is not interchangeable with TrolMaster Hydro-X (HCS-series) sensors such as the MBS-PRO or MBS-TH, and it is not compatible with the Carbon-X (CDA-1) platform. If you run Hydro-X controllers, the correct 4-in-1 sensor for that system is the MBS-PRO.

The GCS-1 supports a maximum of one MBS-GH per controller set.
