Reheat Control Station

Hydro-X-integrated reheat control for simultaneous HVAC cooling and heating — dehumidify without dropping room temp.

The TrolMaster TS-3 Reheat Control Station adds automated reheat HVAC control to your Hydro-X system, enabling your compatible single-stage HVAC or heat pump to run cooling and heating simultaneously — pulling moisture out of the air without further reducing canopy temperature. Designed for commercial cultivation environments where stable VPD demands precision humidity management independent of temperature setpoints.

What Reheat Control Actually Does

Reheat is the ability for an HVAC system to activate cooling and heating at the same time. When your system runs in reheat mode, it engages the refrigeration circuit to pull moisture from the air — exactly what a dedicated dehumidifier does — but then applies heat before recirculating that air back into the grow space. The result: meaningful dehumidification without dropping your room temperature below setpoint.

In a tight cultivation environment, conventional dehumidification often comes at the cost of temperature stability. Running a standalone dehumidifier adds heat load. Running your HVAC harder drops temp. Reheat sidesteps both problems by using the existing refrigeration circuit as the dehumidification workhorse while the heating stage holds temperature. For operators managing critical late-flower VPD windows, that separation of humidity and temperature control is operationally significant.

Who the TS-3 Is Built For

The TS-3 is the right module for commercial cultivation facilities already running TrolMaster Hydro-X (HCS-2 or HCS-3) and using single-stage HVAC units or heat pumps that are factory-capable of simultaneous heating and cooling output. Packaged rooftop units, ducted split systems, and reheat-capable commercial heat pumps are the target equipment class.

Important compatibility note: mini-split AC units and VRF systems are generally not compatible with reheat and the TS-3. The connected HVAC unit must be able to receive and act on both a heat and a cool signal at the same time — verify this with your HVAC contractor before ordering. If your equipment cannot handle simultaneous heating and cooling activation, running the TS-3 may damage the HVAC system. This is not a limitation of the TrolMaster module itself, but of the HVAC hardware it interfaces with.

Integration Into the Hydro-X Ecosystem

The TS-3 connects to your HCS-2 or HCS-3 controller via standard RJ12 cable and uses TrolMaster's plug-and-play address assignment — press the addressing button and the controller assigns it a slot automatically. The unit wires to the HVAC system using standard low-voltage 24VAC thermostat cable with color-coded connections for cooling, heating, and fan terminals, the same wiring layout contractors already know.

Once assigned, the Hydro-X controller manages the TS-3 the same way it manages any other temperature module: separate day and night setpoints for temperature and humidity, automated switching between reheat and standard cooling modes based on environmental readings from the Hydro-X sensor. Firmware updates are handled via Micro-SD card. The TS-3 draws no external power supply — it runs from the Hydro-X bus.

How the TS-3 Fits a Commercial Build

For a facility running multiple flower rooms on a single Hydro-X Plus (HCS-3), the TS-3 adds a dedicated reheat control point without requiring a separate dehumidification appliance in that zone. This is particularly useful during late flower when relative humidity targets drop and the margin between acceptable RH and mold risk narrows. Pulling humidity through the existing refrigeration circuit keeps the equipment footprint lean and the control logic centralized in the Hydro-X.

The TS-3 ships with a 16 ft RJ12 cable, a 4 ft RJ12 cable, and an RJ12 T-splitter, allowing it to chain into an existing Hydro-X device bus without additional hardware. For operators spec'ing a new build or retrofitting climate control in a HVAC-reheat-capable facility, the TS-3 is the clean path to automated, controller-managed reheat dehumidification — no standalone dehumidifier, no separate control loop.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the TS-3 work with mini-split or VRF systems?

No. Mini-split AC units and VRF systems are generally not compatible with the TS-3 and the reheat function. Reheat requires the HVAC unit to receive and act on both a heat and a cool signal simultaneously. Most mini-splits and all VRF systems cannot do this. If you are running mini-splits, look at the TrolMaster ARS-2 (IR remote station) or ARS-1 instead.

How do I know if my HVAC unit supports reheat?

Check your HVAC unit's documentation for a 'reheat' mode or verify with your HVAC contractor that the unit can receive simultaneous W (heat) and Y (cool) signals and act on both at the same time. If the unit's control board locks out one signal when the other is active, it is not reheat-capable. Running the TS-3 with an incompatible unit can damage the HVAC equipment.

Which TrolMaster controllers does the TS-3 require?

The TS-3 is designed for use with the TrolMaster HCS-2 (Hydro-X) and HCS-3 (Hydro-X Plus) controllers. It is not listed as compatible with the base HCS-1. If you are on an HCS-1 system, confirm compatibility with TrolMaster before ordering.

Can I run multiple TS-3 units in one facility?

The Hydro-X system supports up to four thermostat station modules (TS-type) on a single controller. Each module is assigned its own address and can have independent day and night temperature and humidity setpoints, allowing different zones or HVAC units to be managed separately from one Hydro-X controller.

Does the TS-3 need its own power supply?

No. The TS-3 draws power through the RJ12 connection to the Hydro-X controller — no separate power supply is required for the module itself. The HVAC unit it controls does need to supply the standard 24VAC transformer signal through the thermostat wiring, which is standard for any low-voltage thermostat installation.
