Program Device Station Timer Program Control Relay Single Pack with cable set

Multi-function timer relay module for TrolMaster Hydro-X and Aqua-X control systems.

The TrolMaster DSP-1 Program Device Station is a plug-and-play timer control relay that integrates directly with the Hydro-X and Aqua-X controller platforms, giving licensed cultivation operators scheduled or cyclic on/off control over any 10A load — pumps, supplemental lighting, CO2 accessories, exhaust, and more. Includes a full RJ12 cable set for immediate daisy-chain deployment.

What the DSP-1 Does

The TrolMaster DSP-1 is a single-outlet program device station — essentially a smart, addressable timer relay — designed to live inside the Hydro-X and Aqua-X ecosystem. It plugs into the RJ12 bus of a TrolMaster controller and hands that controller direct on/off authority over any connected device drawing 10 amps or less at 100–240 VAC.

Operationally, it functions as a multi-mode timer: operators can schedule fixed on/off windows tied to specific times of day or night, or configure it as a recycling (interval) timer with or without a maximum cycle count. On Aqua-X builds, the DSP-1 doubles as a master pump controller — it automatically energizes the pump output whenever any of the system's 24 VAC irrigation zones activate, eliminating a separate relay or manual override step.

Who Needs It and Where It Fits

The DSP-1 is the right module when you have a device that needs time-based control integrated into the same Hydro-X dashboard that's already running your temperature, humidity, and CO2 setpoints. Typical loads: nutrient dosing pumps, recirculating irrigation pumps, supplemental under-canopy lighting strips, dehumidifier auxiliaries, CO2 generator accessories, and timed exhaust or intake fans.

For licensed cannabis and hemp operators running multi-room or multi-zone facilities, the DSP-1 lets you add controllable outlets to an existing Hydro-X network without installing a separate standalone timer or relay board. Each unit addresses independently on the bus, so you can deploy multiple DSP-1s across a room and manage each one from the same controller interface. It's the modular, scalable path if your Hydro-X device count is growing alongside your canopy.

Hardware and Integration Details

The DSP-1 uses RJ12 connectivity throughout — the included 16 ft and 4 ft cables give you immediate placement flexibility, and the T-splitter lets you branch the bus without breaking the chain. Addressing is done by pressing the onboard button at first install; the LED indicator confirms status at a glance: fast blink means unaddressed or no connection, slow blink means addressed and off, solid green means addressed and on, blinking red signals an overload condition.

Manual override is built in — press and hold the onboard button to force the output on or off without going through the controller, which matters during maintenance windows or when troubleshooting a load. The global-voltage design (100–240 VAC, 50/60 Hz) means the hardware is spec-compatible for US facilities regardless of whether they're running 120V or 240V circuits, though the single outlet is rated at the 10A threshold, so high-amperage single loads (large HPS ballasts, high-draw HVAC compressors) require a higher-rated station or a dedicated relay board instead.

Building Out a TrolMaster Network

The DSP-1 is one station in TrolMaster's DS module family. A complete Hydro-X build typically combines temperature device stations (DST-1), humidity device stations, CO2 device stations (DSC-1), and program device stations (DSP-1) based on which environmental and scheduling functions each room requires. Facilities adding canopy, rooms, or irrigation zones should map DSP-1 quantities to the number of independently scheduled loads they need the controller to manage.

Because each DSP-1 ships as a single pack with its cable set, it's straightforward to add stations incrementally as a facility scales — no controller swap, no new wiring harness, just address a new module into the existing bus. For operators speccing a new build or a retrofit, HSC can help map station count to your controller model and room layout. Request a quote to get started.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between the DSP-1 and other TrolMaster DS modules like the DST-1 or DSC-1?

The DST-1 controls devices based on temperature setpoints (e.g., heaters, A/C), and the DSC-1 controls devices based on CO2 levels. The DSP-1 is strictly time-based — it fires on a schedule or interval you define, independent of any sensor reading. If you need a pump or light running at fixed times rather than in response to a sensor, the DSP-1 is the right station.

Can I use the DSP-1 as an irrigation pump controller on the Aqua-X?

Yes. On an Aqua-X build, the DSP-1 can function as a master pump controller: when any 24 VAC irrigation zone activates, the DSP-1 automatically turns on the pump plugged into it. This eliminates a separate relay or manual switching step for your main recirculating or feed pump.

How many DSP-1 stations can I run on a single Hydro-X controller?

TrolMaster's Hydro-X supports multiple DS modules on the same bus. The practical limit depends on your specific controller model and how many module slots are available. For multi-room or high-station-count builds, contact HSC and we'll help you map the right station count to your controller.

What happens if a device overloads the DSP-1?

The DSP-1 has overload protection. If the connected load exceeds the 10A threshold, the LED indicator shifts to blinking red. To reset, unplug the module from power. If your load consistently approaches or exceeds 10A, spec a higher-rated relay or power station to avoid repeated overloads.

Does the DSP-1 work on both 120V and 240V circuits?

The DSP-1 is rated for 100–240 VAC input and output, making it compatible with both standard 120V and 240V facility circuits in the US. Verify that the specific device you're plugging in is compatible with whichever voltage your outlet supplies — the DSP-1 passes through whatever voltage is present.
