What the DSP-1 Does

The TrolMaster DSP-1 is a single-outlet program device station — essentially a smart, addressable timer relay — designed to live inside the Hydro-X and Aqua-X ecosystem. It plugs into the RJ12 bus of a TrolMaster controller and hands that controller direct on/off authority over any connected device drawing 10 amps or less at 100–240 VAC.

Operationally, it functions as a multi-mode timer: operators can schedule fixed on/off windows tied to specific times of day or night, or configure it as a recycling (interval) timer with or without a maximum cycle count. On Aqua-X builds, the DSP-1 doubles as a master pump controller — it automatically energizes the pump output whenever any of the system's 24 VAC irrigation zones activate, eliminating a separate relay or manual override step.

Who Needs It and Where It Fits

The DSP-1 is the right module when you have a device that needs time-based control integrated into the same Hydro-X dashboard that's already running your temperature, humidity, and CO2 setpoints. Typical loads: nutrient dosing pumps, recirculating irrigation pumps, supplemental under-canopy lighting strips, dehumidifier auxiliaries, CO2 generator accessories, and timed exhaust or intake fans.

Hardware and Integration Details

The DSP-1 uses RJ12 connectivity throughout — the included 16 ft and 4 ft cables give you immediate placement flexibility, and the T-splitter lets you branch the bus without breaking the chain. Addressing is done by pressing the onboard button at first install; the LED indicator confirms status at a glance: fast blink means unaddressed or no connection, slow blink means addressed and off, solid green means addressed and on, blinking red signals an overload condition.

Manual override is built in — press and hold the onboard button to force the output on or off without going through the controller, which matters during maintenance windows or when troubleshooting a load. The global-voltage design (100–240 VAC, 50/60 Hz) means the hardware is spec-compatible for US facilities regardless of whether they're running 120V or 240V circuits, though the single outlet is rated at the 10A threshold, so high-amperage single loads (large HPS ballasts, high-draw HVAC compressors) require a higher-rated station or a dedicated relay board instead.
