Probe lifespan depends on usage frequency, substrate type, and how well the probe is stored in KCl solution between uses. Apera's warranty covers the probe for 6 months from delivery. Because the probe is fully replaceable (sold separately as the PH60S-E), the meter body has an indefinitely extendable service life — you replace only the electrode, not the whole instrument.
The PH60S auto-recognizes standard NIST buffers at pH 4.00, 7.00, and 10.01. The kit ships with premixed, ready-to-use buffer solutions at all three points, plus 3M KCl electrode storage solution. No additional buffer purchase is required to start using the meter.
The meter is rated at ±0.01 pH accuracy with auto temperature compensation across 0–50 °C. That resolution is sufficient to detect the sub-0.5 pH drift that causes nutrient lockout in cannabis cultivation.
