The Apera AI311 is the PH60 Premium Series pocket pH tester — a professional-grade, waterproof handheld meter designed for frequent, reliable pH measurement in commercial water-solution applications. At its core is Apera's proprietary lead-free, lithium-based glass membrane probe, engineered from rare-earth materials and rated for fast response and high repeatability in nutrient-rich hydroponic solutions, RO-amended feed water, reservoir tanks, and recirculating systems.

The meter reads across a −2.00 to 16.00 pH range at ±0.01 pH accuracy with 0.01 pH resolution, covering every realistic pH value encountered in licensed cannabis and hemp cultivation. Auto Temperature Compensation (ATC) corrects readings continuously across 0–50°C (32–122°F), so temperature fluctuations in a working grow environment don't introduce measurement error.

How often does the PH60 probe need to be replaced, and can I replace just the probe?

Yes — the probe is field-replaceable. Apera recommends replacing the PH60-E probe every 1–2 years depending on use frequency and sample conditions. The meter body is reused; you purchase a replacement probe only, which is significantly more cost-effective than replacing the full meter.

Can the PH60 handle the wet, humid environment of a commercial grow room?

Yes. The PH60 carries an IP67 waterproof and dustproof rating, meaning it is rated for full submersion up to 1 meter for 30 minutes. The body is also designed to float, so an accidental drop into a reservoir or water tank will not damage or lose the meter.

Will it give accurate readings when measuring RO water or water with very low ion strength?

The PH60 is not recommended for direct measurement of pure distilled or deionized water. For low-ion-strength samples like RO water, adding a few drops of the included 3M KCl storage solution to the sample will significantly improve stabilization speed without affecting the pH reading. For pure DI water testing, Apera offers a specialized meter (SX811-PW) designed for that application.

What is the high/low alert feature and how does it work in practice?

Users can set upper and lower pH alert thresholds on the meter. When a reading falls outside those limits, the display backlight turns red automatically. This allows any team member checking the meter to immediately recognize an out-of-range reading without needing to interpret the specific number — a useful quality-control feature in multi-technician grow operations.
