What the PH60Z-HT Is

The PH60Z-HT is a complete smart pH meter kit built around two components: the Apera PH60Z handheld meter and the LabSen 865 glass-body pH/Temperature electrode. The meter covers a full -2.00 to 16.00 pH range at ±0.01 pH accuracy with 0.01 pH resolution. The PH60Z body is IP67-rated, supports up to 3-point auto-calibration with automatic recognition of five standard buffer types (1.68 / 4.00 / 7.00 / 10.01 / 12.45), and features Automatic Temperature Compensation, Automatic Reading Lock, and a configurable Reading Alarm.

The LabSen 865 electrode is where this kit separates from general-purpose meters. Engineered with Swiss sensor technology and a specialized PHY glass membrane — the most chemically robust membrane in the LabSen series — it handles high-temperature liquids up to 130°C and caustic solutions (such as electroplating baths) that would quickly degrade a standard glass membrane. The PTFE anti-clogging junction resists fouling from complex chemical matrices, and the Silver Ion Trap reference system maintains reference potential stability over time, extending electrode service life beyond conventional Ag/AgCl designs.

Who This Meter Is For

This kit is the right call any time pH needs to be measured in a solution that is hot, chemically aggressive, or both. In licensed cannabis and hemp cultivation, that means post-pasteurization nutrient solution checks, high-temperature fertigation line flushing verification, sterilization bath monitoring, and any process where solution temperatures exceed the 50°C ceiling of a standard ATC electrode. It also performs reliably in general aqueous solutions, so it does not need to be a dedicated instrument — one kit can cover routine feed-water checks and process-stream spot checks.

Operations running controlled environment agriculture with nutrient delivery systems that heat solutions — or facilities that use caustic cleaning agents on irrigation hardware — benefit from an electrode that will not clog or drift under those conditions. The PHY membrane's resistance to chemical corrosion and temperatures up to 130°C means the electrode stays accurate through demanding wash-down and sterilization cycles that would compromise a standard bulb probe within weeks.

Key Features

The LabSen 865 electrode's PHY glass membrane is built to withstand high temperature and caustic liquids — Apera describes it as 10 times stronger than traditional glass membranes. The PTFE ring junction prevents clogging from complex chemical matrices. The Silver Ion Trap reference system maintains stable reference potential and extends service life compared to standard Ag/AgCl references. A built-in NTC 30KΩ temperature sensor drives automatic temperature compensation across the full 0–130°C electrode range.

On the meter side, the PH60Z connects to the ZenTest Mobile App via Bluetooth, enabling cloud-based data logging with timestamps, geo-location, photos, and notes attached to each measurement. The app guides users through calibration step-by-step and provides four display modes: Basic, Dial, Graph, and Table. A tri-color backlit LCD (blue = measuring, green = calibration, red = alarm) gives clear on-device status at a glance. The full kit ships with pH 4.00 / 7.00 / 10.01 ready-to-use buffer solutions, soaking solution, the Apera CalPod Solution Organizer, and a rugged carry case.

How It Fits Into a Commercial Grow Operation

Nutrient pH is one of the highest-leverage variables in commercial cultivation — small drift outside the target window locks out micronutrients regardless of how precise the formula is. A meter that loses accuracy in hot solution or caustic wash environments creates blind spots exactly where you need data. The PH60Z-HT eliminates that gap: one portable instrument covers both routine feed-water spot-checks and high-temperature or chemically aggressive process streams.

The Bluetooth data management layer also matters at commercial scale. The ZenTest app logs every reading to the cloud with timestamps and location tags, so compliance records, grow-log documentation, and quality-control data are automatically organized and shareable — no manual transcription, no clipboards. The CalPod Solution Organizer keeps calibration buffers structured and readily accessible, reducing the friction that leads to skipped calibration. Warranty is 2 years on the meter body, 6 months on the LabSen 865 electrode.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does high-temperature measurement require a different electrode?

Standard glass membranes and Ag/AgCl reference junctions degrade rapidly above roughly 50–60°C. The LabSen 865 uses Apera's PHY membrane — rated to 130°C — along with a PTFE junction that resists clogging and a Silver Ion Trap reference system that maintains potential stability in hot and caustic matrices where standard references drift or fail.

Can this kit be used for routine pH checks in normal nutrient solution as well?

Yes. The LabSen 865 electrode performs well in general aqueous solutions in addition to high-temperature and corrosive applications. It does not need to be reserved exclusively for specialty testing — one instrument can handle daily feed-water checks and periodic high-temp or caustic process monitoring.

How does the ZenTest app data logging work?

The PH60Z connects to the ZenTest Mobile App via Bluetooth on iOS, Android, iPad, or Mac. Measurement data is automatically saved to a cloud server with timestamps and geo-location. Users can add notes and photos to individual readings, and data can be shared directly from the app. Four display modes (Basic, Dial, Graph, Table) cover different monitoring and documentation scenarios.

Is the LabSen 865 electrode replaceable when it reaches end of service life?

Yes. The LabSen 865 is a replaceable electrode compatible with the PH60 and PH60Z meter bodies (8-pin socket). It is also compatible with other Apera meters that use 8-pin connectors, including the PH400, PC400, PH400S, PC400S, SX751, and SX736. Apera does not recommend using LabSen electrodes with third-party meters due to potential thermistor incompatibility.

What calibration standards are included and how many calibration points does the meter support?

The kit includes ready-to-use pH 4.00, 7.00, and 10.01 buffer solutions. The PH60Z meter supports up to 3-point automatic calibration and automatically recognizes five buffer types: 1.68, 4.00, 7.00, 10.01, and 12.45. The ZenTest app walks through the calibration process step-by-step.
