The PH60-PW is a purpose-matched kit: Apera's PH60 handheld meter body mated to the Swiss LabSen 805 pH/temperature combination electrode. The pairing addresses a specific measurement problem — standard pH electrodes produce erratic, jumping readings in pure, low-ionic-strength water because the reference junction can't maintain a stable potential without sufficient dissolved ions. The LabSen 805 is engineered around that problem.
The electrode uses triple ceramic junctions that ensure rapid electrolyte discharge for fast response in pure water, and an L-type olive-shape membrane with an ultra-low resistance formula (under 50 MΩ) and large hydrogen ion sensing area. That combination stabilizes readings in distilled, RO, DI, drinking, boiler, surface, storm, and well water — the exact water types that defeat conventional probes. The electrode body is lead-free glass construction with Swiss sensor technology and materials.

Standard pH electrodes rely on dissolved ions in the sample to complete the reference junction circuit. In low-ionic-strength water like RO or DI, there aren't enough ions to maintain a stable junction potential, which causes readings to drift or jump unpredictably. The LabSen 805's triple ceramic junctions and low-resistance L-type membrane are specifically designed to stabilize the reference system in those conditions.
The LabSen 805 electrode is optimized for pure and low-ionic-strength water but also performs accurately in general water solutions. It will read a mixed nutrient reservoir correctly. The -2.00 to 16.00 pH range covers all commercially relevant fertigation and runoff pH levels.
The PH60 supports up to 3-point automatic calibration using pH 4.00, 7.00, and 10.01 buffers, with automatic buffer recognition. For commercial cultivation, single-point calibration at pH 7.00 daily is a common practice; 2-point calibration bracketing your target range (typically pH 5.5–6.5 for cannabis) adds accuracy.
