PH60-MS pH Meter Kit for Small-Volume Samples

Lab-grade pH measurement down to 60 µL — portable, field-ready, Swiss sensor.

The Apera PH60-MS (AI3725) pairs the top-rated PH60 meter body with the Swiss-engineered LabSen 246-5 semi-micro electrode, delivering ±0.01 pH accuracy in water samples as small as 60 µL — purpose-built for test tubes, micro-samples, and any application where volume is limited and precision can't be compromised.

What It Is

The PH60-MS is a complete portable pH measurement kit built around two core components: Apera's PH60 Premium handheld meter body and the Swiss LabSen 246-5 semi-micro pH/temperature electrode. The LabSen 246-5 features a ø6mm slim sensor tip engineered specifically for small-volume measurement — using the included semi-micro sample container, the electrode can accurately read pH in samples as small as 60 µL. This is not a general-purpose pen tester with a narrow probe bolted on; the electrode's membrane chemistry and reference system are purpose-selected for the micro-sample use case.

Apera builds the LabSen 246-5 using proprietary Swiss sensor technology and premium materials. The Long-Life Reference System is designed to maintain reference potential stability over time, outperforming standard Ag/AgCl reference systems and extending electrode service life. The glass membrane is rated approximately 10× stronger than traditional glass membranes. A built-in temperature sensor feeds automatic temperature compensation directly through the electrode connection.

Who It's For

Any licensed cannabis or hemp operation where standard probe immersion isn't practical. Common applications include tissue culture work, small-batch extract or concentrate pH verification, rooting hormone solution checks, micro-volume nutrient solution formulation QC, and any ISO-adjacent lab workflow where sample volume is limited or the sample is high-value and can't be wasted.

The PH60-MS is equally at home in a full cultivation lab and in the field. It ships as a complete kit — rugged carry case, CalPod Solution Organizer, semi-micro sample container, ready-to-use pH 4.00/7.00/10.01 buffer solutions, and soaking solution — so your team can calibrate and test in one place without hunting for accessories. If you run multi-site operations, this kit travels clean and stays organized.

Key Features

The PH60 meter body supports up to 3-point automatic calibration with automatic recognition of five buffer types (1.68, 4.00, 7.00, 10.01, 12.45), covering the full measurement range. Auto Temperature Compensation runs from 0–50°C. Stable-Value Recognition automatically detects when a reading has settled and confirms it with an on-screen indicator, eliminating guesswork on whether to hold a measurement.

The LCD features three backlight colors — blue for measuring mode, green during calibration, red when a reading falls outside preset alert limits. Dual display shows simultaneous pH and temperature. The meter body is water-resistant, making it suitable for routine use in high-humidity grow environments. Apera warrants the instrument for two years and the electrode for six months from delivery. The LabSen 246-5 is replaceable and compatible with other Apera meters equipped with an 8-pin connector (PH400, PC400, SX751, SX736, and others).

How It Fits a Commercial Build

For commercial cannabis and hemp operators, pH accuracy is non-negotiable — root zone drift by even a fraction of a point can lock out calcium, iron, or manganese and show up as deficiencies that cost weeks of recovery. The PH60-MS earns its place in facilities that want a dedicated instrument for small-volume or precision-critical sampling without pulling a benchtop meter into the field or contaminating larger samples.

Tissue culture labs, propagation departments, and R&D runs on live plant material all regularly deal with sub-milliliter sample volumes where a standard bulb probe can't get a clean read. The PH60-MS was designed for exactly that scenario. It also serves as a reliable backup or secondary calibration reference for operations already running inline or continuous pH monitoring systems. All components are organized in a single carry case, so it's deployable across multiple rooms or facilities without the disorganized accessory drift that plagues multi-meter operations.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the minimum sample volume the PH60-MS can accurately measure?

Using the semi-micro sample container included in the kit, the LabSen 246-5 electrode can measure pH in a sample volume as small as 60 µL. The electrode's ø6mm sensor tip is specifically designed for this low-volume use case.

Is the LabSen 246-5 electrode replaceable, and what meters is it compatible with?

Yes. The LabSen 246-5 is a replaceable electrode. It is compatible with the PH60 and PH60-Z pocket testers and all Apera pH meters equipped with an 8-pin connector, including the PH400, PC400, PH400S, PC400S, SX751, and SX736.

How does the Long-Life Reference System differ from a standard Ag/AgCl reference?

The LabSen 246-5's Long-Life Reference System is designed to maintain reference potential stability over a longer service period than conventional Ag/AgCl systems, which reduces reference drift and extends the usable life of the electrode — an important factor when you're relying on the instrument for precision QC work.

Can this meter be used for general nutrient solution pH testing, not just micro-volume sampling?

Yes. While the PH60-MS is specifically configured for small-volume and test tube applications, the LabSen 246-5 electrode performs well in standard water solutions too. It covers the full –2.00 to 16.00 pH range with ±0.01 accuracy, making it suitable as an everyday cultivation meter in addition to precision micro-sample work.

What is included in the kit?

The kit includes the PH60 meter body, the Swiss LabSen 246-5 semi-micro pH/temp electrode, a semi-micro sample container, ready-to-use pH 4.00/7.00/10.01 calibration buffer solutions, soaking solution, the Apera CalPod Solution Organizer, and a rugged carrying case. It ships ready to calibrate and use.
