Extend your Matrix control wiring run where the standard cable falls short — 10ft, 3-pin, M12 twist-lock.
The Matrix M12 Extension Cable 3-pin (C3) – 10ft adds reach to your Matrix LED control wiring without splicing or adapters. Plug-and-play M12 twist-lock connectors seat mechanically at both ends, keeping the signal connection secure through the vibration, humidity cycling, and continuous-operation demands of a commercial grow room.
The Matrix M12 cable ecosystem is built around a family of purpose-designated cables: A-series daisy chains link fixture to fixture, B-series adapters bridge M12 to RJ11/RJ12 for controller interfacing, and C-series cables are the dedicated extensions — used when the existing cable run between a controller port and the first fixture, or between fixtures in a chain, simply doesn't have enough reach.
The C3 is the 3-pin variant of that extension family. It inserts inline between two existing M12 3-pin connections to add 10 feet of run length. No splicing, no field termination, no adapters required — it uses the same M12 twist-lock interface as every other cable in the Matrix wiring system, so it integrates cleanly into an existing installation without introducing a new connector format.
In a standard Matrix control wiring run, a controller — the MC2, MC5, or equivalent — connects to the first fixture via an M12 cable, and subsequent fixtures daisy-chain from there. In practice, commercial rooms don't always accommodate that run cleanly: a controller mounted near an electrical panel may sit farther from the first fixture than a standard cable reaches, or a mid-chain fixture spacing may exceed what the daisy chain cable covers. The C3 extension solves the gap.
Typical use cases include controller-to-first-fixture runs where the panel or controller position is offset from the row, wide-bay layouts where fixture spacing stretches beyond standard daisy chain reach, and retrofit builds where existing conduit or fixture placement dictates a longer initial run than originally spec'd. Having C3 extensions on hand during commissioning avoids mid-install trips for parts and keeps the build moving.
M12 connectors in the Matrix cable line use a twist-lock collar that seats mechanically rather than relying on friction or a clip. That matters in a working grow room where overhead cables get bumped during canopy work, humidity cycles cause minor expansion and contraction in cable jackets, and an accidental pull on a loose cable can drop an entire fixture chain off the control bus mid-cycle.
The moisture-resistant construction throughout the C3 handles the condensation levels and sustained high-humidity conditions standard in sealed cultivation environments. Standard cable materials — jackets and contact plating — degrade under repeated humidity exposure; the industrial-grade construction in the Matrix cable line is spec'd to hold up in those conditions across a continuous-operation cultivation facility.
The C3 designation is 3-pin and pairs with 3-pin M12 ports in the Matrix ecosystem. If your fixtures or controller connections use 4-pin M12 ports, the correct extension is the C4 — the two are not interchangeable. Confirm your fixture's M12 port configuration before ordering.
The full Matrix M12 cable family — A3, A4 daisy chains; B3, B4 controller adapters; C3, C4 extensions — is available through HSC. If you're building out a new room, expanding an existing installation, or replacing a damaged cable mid-run, request a quote and include your fixture count and row layout. HSC can help identify which cable types and quantities your specific build requires.

The A3 daisy chain is configured specifically for fixture-to-fixture linking — it connects two Matrix LED fixtures in sequence within a control chain. The C3 extension is a straight extension cable that adds run length to any 3-pin M12 connection point, whether that's between a controller and the first fixture or at any point along a wiring run that needs more reach. They serve different purposes and are not interchangeable.
Yes, provided the controller port in question uses a 3-pin M12 interface. The C3 is compatible throughout the Matrix LED and HID ecosystem wherever 3-pin M12 connections are used. If your controller or fixture port is 4-pin, you need the C4 extension instead.
Technically the cables can be chained, but Matrix does not publish a maximum extension run length in readily available documentation. For runs significantly longer than 10ft, contact HSC before ordering multiples — signal integrity over long low-voltage control runs can be affected by total cable length, and it's worth confirming your specific setup is within spec before commissioning.
A 3-pin M12 connector will not mate correctly with a 4-pin M12 port — the pin count and keying differ. Always match the cable pin count to the port on your fixture or controller. The C3 is for 3-pin ports; the C4 is for 4-pin ports.
Request a quote through HSC. If you're unsure how many extension cables your layout requires, share your fixture count, row length, and controller placement and HSC will help you work through the cable quantities. Extensions are typically needed when the controller is offset from the first fixture in the row or when standard daisy chain lengths don't cover fixture spacing.
