What the LINKS HUB Is

The Growlink LINKS 8-Port Device HUB is the required communication controller at the center of any LINKS ecosystem. Every LINK device — canopyLINK sensor hubs, valveLINK irrigation controllers, digital lightLINKs, hvacLINKs, batch tankLINKs, nutriLINKs, relayLINKs, and powerLINKs — must connect through a HUB to operate within Growlink OS. There is no workaround: the HUB is the prerequisite for every LINKS build.

The unit connects to your local network via hardwired Ethernet (preferred for production environments) or 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi as a fallback. Once online, all downstream LINK devices are managed, monitored, and automated through the Growlink App — with real-time data, alerts, scheduling, and Copilot AI-driven crop steering available from any device.

The HUB is made in the USA, ships with wall-mounting hardware and an included 24VDC 1A power supply, and is ready to register devices from first power-on. An optional DIN rail mounting kit is sold separately for panel-mount installs.

Who It's Built For

The LINKS HUB is the starting point for any licensed cannabis or hemp facility moving from manual or fragmented control into a unified, data-driven automation platform. Growlink's own documentation identifies three core operator profiles: multi-room facilities that need centralized automation across every grow room, greenhouse operations requiring scalable climate and irrigation control, and premium cultivators stepping up from manual processes into fully automated systems.

For a single-room build, one HUB with the appropriate LINK devices covers climate sensing, substrate monitoring, irrigation, lighting dimming control, and HVAC automation — all in one app. For multi-room facilities, additional HUBs are deployed per zone, each managed within the same Growlink OS account. If port capacity becomes a constraint, canopyLINK Sensor HUBs connect to a single HUB port while freeing up the remaining seven for other device categories, effectively scaling the device count without adding another HUB.

The hardware is rated for operating temps of 10°C–50°C (50–122°F) and up to 75% RH non-condensing. For rooms that run higher sustained humidity, Growlink recommends mounting the HUB outside the grow environment in a sealed enclosure — standard practice for most commercial mechanical room layouts.

Key Hardware Features

Eight individually buffered transceiver ports deliver reliable communication with connected LINK devices at distances up to 1,000 ft over standard unshielded RJ-45 cable — no proprietary cabling required. The buffered port architecture means a wiring or device issue on one port doesn't cascade to others, which matters in facilities where uptime is non-negotiable.

Power delivery runs over the same RJ-45 cable: the 24VDC 1A supply powers both the HUB and its downstream LINK devices with up to 1A of shared current across all eight ports. Network connectivity is dual-mode — hardwired Ethernet via the dedicated master input port for maximum stability, or 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi when hardwired runs aren't practical. How It Fits a Commercial Build

The standard LINKS build sequence starts here: HUB first, then LINK devices added by function and zone. Climate gets covered with a canopyLINK running climaLINK and terraLINK sensors. Lighting dimming and spectrum control runs through a digital lightLINK per zone — supporting major fixture protocols including Matrix, Faven, Fohse, Fluence, and others. Irrigation is handled by valveLINK (eight 24VAC channels per unit). Nutrient management routes through batch tankLINK for tank monitoring or nutriLINK for dosing automation. HVAC automation runs through hvacLINK.

All of these devices report into Growlink OS through the HUB, where Blueprint scheduling and Copilot AI tie environment, substrate, and irrigation data into automated crop-steering decisions. The HUB is required for wired LINK devices to operate within Growlink OS. There is no alternate communication path for HUB-connected LINKS hardware — every LINKS build starts with at least one HUB. One HUB supports up to eight LINK devices. To scale beyond eight, deploy additional HUBs — each managed within the same Growlink OS account. What cabling does the LINKS HUB use, and how far can I run device connections?

The HUB uses standard unshielded RJ-45 (Cat5e/Cat6) cabling for all device connections — no proprietary cable required. Individually buffered transceiver ports maintain signal integrity to connected LINK devices up to 1,000 ft away, which covers virtually any commercial grow room or greenhouse bay layout.

Can the HUB operate on Wi-Fi, or does it require a hardwired network connection?
