What the LMA-G Does

The LMA-G is TrolMaster's group control adapter for ThinkGrow Model-I and Model-I Plus single-bar LED fixtures. In a standard Hydro-X lighting setup, the LMA-T adapter bridges the controller's RJ12 bus to the ThinkGrow dimmer port, allowing the Hydro-X to manage full-spectrum and supplemental red channels across an entire daisy chain. The LMA-G adds a layer on top of that: it sits inline with the LMA-T and assigns a discrete group address to a defined set of fixtures, so that one group of bars can be scheduled and dimmed independently from the next.

Each LMA-G controls exactly one group of lights. If you need to divide a room into zones—say, separate veg rows from pre-flower rows, or stagger sunrise/sunset timing across multiple benches—each zone gets its own LMA-G. Up to 10 addressable groups can be created, each with fully individual on/off schedules and dimming curves, all without running separate wiring runs or purchasing a second controller.

Who Needs This Adapter

The LMA-G is relevant any time a licensed cultivation facility runs ThinkGrow Model-I or Model-I Plus fixtures across more than one lighting zone and wants to manage those zones from a single TrolMaster Hydro-X or Hydro-X Pro controller. A facility running a single uniform room where all fixtures share one schedule and one dimming level does not need the LMA-G—the LMA-T alone handles that configuration.

The moment a grower needs to split a room into production zones, create staggered photoperiods, or operate veg and flower areas under one controller, the LMA-G becomes a required component. Multi-tier vertical farms using ThinkGrow single-bar bars, phased flowering rooms running rolling harvest schedules, and greenhouse supplemental lighting rigs where different bays run different DLI targets are all use cases that drive the need for group addressing. One LMA-G per zone; as many zones as the grow requires, up to ten per controller channel.

Key Features and Integration

The LMA-G features an onboard LCD display used for group addressing—you assign each adapter a group number directly on the unit, no software configuration required. Connection is plug-and-play via the same RJ12 bus that runs the rest of the Hydro-X ecosystem, meaning it integrates cleanly alongside other TrolMaster device stations without additional wiring complexity.

The adapter is compatible with the Hydro-X (HCS-1), Hydro-X Pro (HCS-2), and Hydro-X Plus (HCS-3) controllers. Because TrolMaster's device stations and sensor modules are cross-compatible across all three controller tiers, facilities that upgrade their controller hardware retain their LMA-G wiring without modification. The unit operates across a wide ambient temperature range (32–122°F / 0–50°C) and tolerates humidity up to 90%, making it appropriate for humid cultivation environments.

How It Fits a Commercial Build

In a commercial ThinkGrow Model-I installation, the lighting control stack typically runs: Hydro-X controller → LMA-T (bridges controller to ThinkGrow protocol) → LMA-G (defines zone grouping) → daisy-chained fixtures via RJ-type lighting control cables. The LMA-T is a required companion to the LMA-G; the LMA-G activates its group control function only when connected inline with the LMA-T.
