What the LMA-T Does

The LMA-T is a purpose-built adapter that allows the TrolMaster Hydro-X environmental control system to communicate with ThinkGrow LED fixtures using ThinkGrow's proprietary low-voltage control protocol. Most grow light manufacturers use low-volt control for dimming and scheduling, but that control takes different forms depending on the brand. The LMA-T translates the Hydro-X controller's output into the specific signal ThinkGrow fixtures expect — something a generic 0-10V adapter cannot do.

The adapter occupies both lighting control ports (Line 1 and Line 2) on the Hydro-X controller, dedicating each line to a separate spectrum channel on the ThinkGrow fixture. This gives the operator independent on/off scheduling and dimming setpoints for the full-spectrum channel and the deep-red channel from a single Hydro-X interface — no separate controller, no manual adjustments at the fixture.

Who This Adapter Is For

Any licensed cannabis or hemp operation running ThinkGrow LED fixtures alongside a TrolMaster Hydro-X system (HCS-1, HCS-2 Pro, or HCS-3 Plus) needs the LMA-T to enable full dimming and scheduling control. Without it, the Hydro-X cannot communicate with ThinkGrow's control protocol, and the lights revert to manual dimmer adjustment at the fixture level — which is not practical at commercial scale.

This adapter is especially relevant for operators running the ThinkGrow PLUS series, where the HCS-2 and HCS-3 paired with the LMA-T can provide individual control across up to four distinct spectrum channels. Facilities scaling canopy that need repeatable, programmable light recipes across multiple flowering rooms will find the LMA-T a required component rather than an optional one.

Installation and Connectivity

Installation follows the standard TrolMaster plug-and-play architecture. The LMA-T connects directly to the lighting control ports Line 1 and Line 2 on the Hydro-X controller using RJ12 connections. From the adapter, ThinkGrow fixtures are chained together in a daisy-chain configuration using RJ-type lighting control cables — no proprietary wiring harnesses, no terminal blocks.

A converter cable is included in the box to bridge from the RJ12 standard to ThinkGrow's threaded waterproof connector format. For facilities with ThinkGrow fixtures using the 4-pin IP65 threaded connector, the companion ECS-9 cable (12 ft, RJ12 to 4-pin IP65) is the correct interconnect. Each LMA-T supports up to 256 ThinkGrow fixtures in a single daisy chain, making it viable for large-format commercial grows without adding additional adapters.

How It Fits a Commercial Build

In a fully integrated Hydro-X build, the LMA-T slots into the lighting control layer alongside the environmental sensors, CO2 controllers, HVAC stations, and humidity management modules that the Hydro-X manages. The Hydro-X controller's free mobile app gives operators remote access to lighting schedules and dimming setpoints, so adjustments to both the full-spectrum and deep-red channels can be made off-site without touching the fixture.

For operators running the HCS-3 Plus, the LMA-T enables spectrum-level control that mirrors the granular recipe management larger facilities require — adjusting deep-red supplementation independently from broadband output during different growth phases. The entire LMA-T connection is passive once configured, with no active components at the fixture level beyond the ThinkGrow unit itself. If you are building out a new facility with ThinkGrow lighting and a TrolMaster backbone, the LMA-T is a line-item requirement at the spec stage.
