Lighting Control Adapter F, for Controlling Fluence or any light using 0~10V protocol

Plug-and-play 0–10V dimming control for LED and HID fixtures via Hydro-X.

The TrolMaster LMA-14 Lighting Control Adapter F bridges the Hydro-X environmental controller to any fixture running the 0–10V low-voltage control protocol — LEDs, HIDs, and Meanwell-driver-based lights alike. One adapter handles scheduling, dimming, and on/off control for up to 40 HID fixtures or 24 LED fixtures through a single RJ12 connection.

What the LMA-14 Does

The LMA-14 is TrolMaster's universal lighting control adapter for the 0–10V protocol — the most widely adopted low-voltage dimming standard in commercial horticulture. It converts the Hydro-X system's digital output signal into a clean analog 0–10V signal, allowing the controller to command fixture intensity anywhere across the full dimming range.

Connection to the Hydro-X (or Hydro-X Pro) is via a standard RJ12 cable — the same connector used throughout the Hydro-X accessory ecosystem. No custom wiring harnesses or relay panels required. An onboard LED power indicator confirms the adapter is live before lights-out runs begin.

The LMA-14 also ships with a pigtail screw-down manual wiring converter, eliminating the need to purchase the ECS-2 cable set separately. For facilities running more fixtures than a single adapter supports, additional LMA-14 units can be stacked through the SPH-1 Splitter Hub to cover any zone count.

Compatible Fixtures

The LMA-14 is purpose-built for 0–10V protocol fixtures and covers both LED and HID form factors in one SKU. Verified HID-compatible brands include Gavita, Nanolux, Luxx, Growers Choice, Illuminar, and PL. On the LED side, compatible fixtures include Fluence (Spyder, VYPR, and Aelius lines), NextLight, Photobio, HLG (Horticulture Lighting Group), Floraflex, and any Meanwell-driver-based board using the standard 2-wire 0–10V dimming input. Standard 0–10V ballasts are also supported.

One important note for high-voltage LED installs: when running Fluence Spyder 2x/2i fixtures at 277V, or any Aelius fixtures at 277V or higher, derate to no more than 12 LEDs per LMA-14 adapter to stay within the current spec. At 120V or 208V these fixtures remain within the standard 24-LED limit.

How It Fits a Commercial Build

In a multi-zone facility, each cultivation room or lighting circuit can be assigned its own LMA-14 on the Hydro-X bus. The Hydro-X handles sunrise/sunset ramps, DLI-based intensity curves, and schedule automation — the LMA-14 is the hardware handoff point that translates those commands into voltage the fixture understands.

Because the adapter is zone-level, operators can differentiate light schedules between veg and flower rooms without running separate controllers. The SPH-1 Splitter Hub accommodates up to eight RJ12 outputs from a single Hydro-X input port, so one controller can manage eight independent LMA-14-equipped zones simultaneously.

For facilities standardizing on TrolMaster automation, the LMA-14 is typically specified alongside the HCS-1 (Hydro-X Controller) or HCS-2 (Hydro-X Pro) and the appropriate sensor sets. It does not require a separate power supply — input voltage is 12V drawn from the Hydro-X port itself.

Key Features at a Glance

The LMA-14 is a passive, low-current device designed for long-term, unattended duty in a commercial grow environment. Its rated operating range covers 32–122°F (0–50°C) at up to 90% relative humidity — conditions common in a sealed, CO₂-enriched flower room. The compact enclosure (approximately 6.1" × 3.3" × 1.2") mounts cleanly in any electrical panel area or conduit chase.

Signal conversion is digital-to-analog: the Hydro-X sends a digital command; the LMA-14 outputs a true 0–11.5V analog signal to the fixture's dim port. This architecture keeps the control signal clean regardless of fixture load, which matters in large rooms where EMI from ballasts or LED drivers can corrupt lower-quality analog signals.

The included pigtail screw-down wiring converter provides flexibility for fixtures whose dim ports use bare-wire terminations rather than a proprietary connector — a common situation on commercial LED fixtures and retrofit drivers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need the ECS-2 cable set to use the LMA-14?

No. Current versions of the LMA-14 include a pigtail screw-down manual wiring converter, so the ECS-2 cable set is not required. The adapter connects to the Hydro-X via a standard RJ12 cable.

How many fixtures can one LMA-14 control?

Up to 40 HID fixtures or 24 LED fixtures per adapter under standard voltage conditions. If you're running Fluence Spyder 2x/2i or Aelius LEDs at 277V, limit to 12 LEDs per LMA-14. For larger zones, additional LMA-14 adapters can be added through a TrolMaster SPH-1 Splitter Hub.

Which fixtures are compatible with the LMA-14?

Any fixture using the standard 0–10V control protocol. Confirmed HIDs: Gavita, Nanolux, Luxx, Growers Choice, Illuminar, PL. Confirmed LEDs: Fluence, NextLight, Photobio, HLG, Floraflex, Luxx, and 2-wire 0–10V Meanwell driver-based fixtures. Standard 0–10V ballasts are also supported.

Can I use the LMA-14 with both Hydro-X and Hydro-X Pro controllers?

Yes. The LMA-14 uses the standard RJ12 interface shared across TrolMaster's Hydro-X product family and is compatible with both the HCS-1 (Hydro-X) and HCS-2 (Hydro-X Pro) controllers.

How do I scale beyond one zone with this adapter?

Run each zone's LMA-14 through a TrolMaster SPH-1 Splitter Hub. The SPH-1 provides eight RJ12 output ports from a single Hydro-X input, letting one controller manage up to eight independently scheduled and dimmed lighting zones simultaneously.
