Who Needs It and Why

Standard free-discharge installation works well in smaller, well-circulated rooms where the dehumidifier's blower can move conditioned air evenly throughout the space. In larger sealed flower rooms, multi-tier vertical grows, or any facility where the unit is mounted overhead in a corner or along a perimeter wall, free discharge creates humidity gradients — zones far from the unit stay wetter than zones near it, increasing mold pressure unevenly across the canopy.

Ducted installation solves this by routing dehumidified air through a distribution run to the points in the room where moisture accumulates most heavily — typically over the canopy at mid-room and at floor level beneath benching where stagnant air collects. Operators running the LG228C in sealed rooms above roughly 1,000 square feet, or in any room with vertical racking, should strongly consider ducted deployment to maintain uniform VPD across the full canopy footprint.

The LG228C is the R32 refrigerant configuration of Leizig's 228-pint-per-day commercial dehumidifier. The LG228 line operates across 208–277V single-phase power, making it compatible with standard commercial multi-voltage panels without a dedicated transformer. At 6.9 pints per kilowatt-hour, it is an efficient unit for its capacity tier. The LG228 runs at a 68 dB(A) noise ceiling — the quietest rating in the Leizig lineup — which matters in facilities where staff work continuous shifts in the grow environment.

The LG228C uses R32 refrigerant, a chlorine-free hydrofluorocarbon with a global warming potential of 675 — approximately one-third that of R410A (GWP 2,088). This makes it the more forward-compliant refrigerant choice as federal and state regulations on high-GWP HFCs continue to tighten. The unit supports all four Leizig mounting configurations: ceiling-suspended (hoisted), wall-mounted, floor cabinet, and freestanding.
