Automated lantern photoperiod control for any 0–10V HID or LED fixture via TrolMaster Hydro-X.
The TrolMaster LMA-24 is a dedicated lighting control adapter that uses both channels of the Hydro-X system to execute a true lantern lighting schedule — 12 hrs on / 5.5 hrs off / 1 hr on / 5.5 hrs off — automatically, for any fixture with 0–10V protocol control. Compatible with a wide range of commercial HID and LED grow lights, the LMA-24 adds a proven vegetative photoperiod strategy to your existing TrolMaster controller without adding complexity to your wiring.
The TrolMaster LMA-24 Lantern Schedule Lighting Adapter is purpose-built to automate the lantern photoperiod — a well-documented vegetative lighting strategy in commercial horticulture. The schedule runs as follows: 12 hours lights on, 5.5 hours off, 1 hour on, 5.5 hours off, then repeat. The 1-hour interruption during the dark period signals the plant to remain in vegetative state, preventing premature transition to flowering under long-day-sensitive genetics.
To execute this split schedule, the LMA-24 uses both lighting control channels on the TrolMaster Hydro-X (HCS-1, HCS-2, or HCS-3) simultaneously — one channel drives the primary 12-hour photoperiod, the other handles the 1-hour night interruption. The result is a fully automated, controller-managed lantern cycle with no additional timers or manual intervention required.
The LMA-24 is designed for any lighting system that accepts a standard 0–10V low-voltage control signal. This covers a broad range of commercial-grade HID fixtures — including Gavita, Nanolux, Luxx, Growers Choice, Illuminar, and PL ballasts — as well as LED systems such as Fluence, Next Light, and Spectrum King, among others. If your fixture has a 0–10V dimming or control input, the LMA-24 can drive it.
TrolMaster produces an entire family of LMA adapters, each targeting a specific fixture protocol (Phantom, Dimlux, SunSystem, etc.). The LMA-24 is specifically for the universal 0–10V standard, making it the most broadly applicable adapter in the lineup for facilities running modern commercial drivers or ballasts. Confirm your fixture's control input type before ordering — if it uses a proprietary protocol, a different LMA model may be required.
For vegetative rooms running long-day or indefinite-vegetative schedules, the lantern photoperiod is a scientifically supported alternative to a straight 18/6 schedule, and the LMA-24 is the hardware that makes it controller-managed rather than manually timed. It is particularly relevant in multi-room facilities where the veg room's photoperiod needs to be logged, repeatable, and remotely adjustable alongside temperature, humidity, CO2, and irrigation — all within the same Hydro-X environment.
The LMA-24 connects directly to the Hydro-X lighting control ports and integrates cleanly into an existing TrolMaster wiring scheme. Where multiple adapters are needed across a large canopy, TrolMaster's SPH-1 Splitter Hub can expand the system's capacity by boosting signals and providing additional RJ12 output ports, keeping the installation organized and eliminating daisy-chain Y-splitters.
The LMA-24 uses TrolMaster's standard RJ12 connection interface, consistent with the rest of the Hydro-X accessory ecosystem. It occupies both lighting control channels on the controller — Channel 1 and Channel 2 — to coordinate the two separate on-periods that make up the lantern cycle. Because both channels are consumed by the LMA-24, plan accordingly if you need independent control of multiple fixture zones; in those cases, additional Hydro-X controllers or a group control adapter may be the right configuration.
The adapter is rated for a working environment of 0–50°C and up to 90% relative humidity, appropriate for standard controlled-environment grow rooms. Package dimensions are 160mm × 86mm × 86mm and the gross packaged weight is approximately 60g, making it compact and easy to mount or tuck into an existing control panel. Refer to the TrolMaster LMA-24 tech sheet (available in the Trolmaster Help Center) for full wiring diagrams before installation.

The LMA-24 automates the lantern photoperiod: 12 hours on, 5.5 hours off, 1 hour on, 5.5 hours off — repeating continuously. The 1-hour night interruption keeps long-day plants in vegetative growth by preventing the uninterrupted dark period required to trigger flowering.
The LMA-24 is designed for use with the TrolMaster Hydro-X controller family, including the HCS-1, HCS-2 (Hydro-X Pro), and HCS-3 (Hydro-X Plus). It connects to the controller's RJ12 lighting control ports and uses both Channel 1 and Channel 2 to deliver the two-phase lantern cycle.
Any fixture that accepts a standard 0–10V low-voltage control signal. Verified compatible HID brands include Gavita, Nanolux, Luxx, Growers Choice, Illuminar, and PL. Compatible LED brands include Fluence, Next Light, and Spectrum King, among others. If your fixture uses a proprietary protocol (e.g., Phantom, Dimlux, SunSystem), a different TrolMaster LMA model is required.
The LMA-24 outputs a 0–10V analog signal, which is the same voltage range that most commercial HID ballasts and LED drivers use for both on/off switching and dimming. Whether dimming is executed depends on how the lantern schedule is programmed within the Hydro-X system and your fixture's driver capabilities.
The LMA-24 uses both lighting control channels on a single Hydro-X controller. To expand coverage across multiple fixture zones or a larger canopy, you can add the TrolMaster SPH-1 Splitter Hub, which boosts the RJ12 signal and provides up to 8 output ports, allowing additional adapters and sensors to be connected to the same controller without daisy-chaining.
