What the HS-1 Does

The TrolMaster HS-1 Humidistat Station is purpose-built for one job: giving your Hydro-X controller direct, safe authority over commercial dehumidifiers that have a 24V low-voltage control terminal. Rather than cycling a dehumidifier's compressor load through a relay directly, the HS-1 operates exactly like an external humidistat wired into that low-voltage input — the dehumidifier's own internal relay handles the heavy current, and the HS-1 sends only a 24V signal to trigger it. This is the correct, manufacturer-endorsed method for integrating commercial-grade dehumidifiers into a centralized environmental control system.

On the HS-1's LCD, you can read both the current humidity reading and the active setpoint simultaneously. When connected to the Hydro-X, the controller assigns it a unique address (H1, H2, etc.) so multiple units can run on the same system daisy-chained through RJ12 cabling.

Who Needs It and Why

Commercial indoor cannabis and hemp facilities running Quest, Anden, or similar dehumidifiers with a 24V humidistat input are the primary application. If your climate control strategy calls for separate Day and Night humidity targets — tighter VPD during lights-on, relaxed setpoints during dark periods — the HS-1 handles that automatically based on photocell status fed through the Hydro-X. Without it, you're either manually adjusting the dehumidifier's onboard controls or running a basic analog humidistat with no integration into the broader environmental data your Hydro-X is logging.

Facilities that have already invested in TrolMaster's Hydro-X ecosystem get the most value here. The HS-1 extends centralized control to dehumidification without adding a separate controller or breaking out of the RJ12 device bus. It also protects electrical infrastructure by keeping the high-inrush compressor load internal to the dehumidifier, not running through an external control relay.

LCD display shows setpoint humidity (upper) and live ambient humidity (lower) at a glance — no need to pull up an app or walk back to the controller cabinet to confirm status. The addressing system is straightforward: connect via RJ12 to the Hydro-X DEVICES port, press the addressing button, and the Hydro-X LCD confirms the assigned station ID. Firmware is field-upgradeable via Micro-SD card (32GB or less), which means TrolMaster feature updates don't require hardware replacement. How It Fits Into a Commercial Build

The HS-1 slots into any TrolMaster Hydro-X environment as an expansion device on the DEVICES bus. It does not replace a temperature/humidity sensor — it's a control output node for the dehumidifier, fed set points by the Hydro-X based on the sensor data from a TSH-1 or similar station. A typical deployment: Hydro-X controller at the head, TSH-1 or equivalent sensor reading ambient conditions in the canopy zone, HS-1 wired to the dehumidifier's 24V input terminal and connected to the Hydro-X device bus via the included 16ft RJ12 cable.

For multi-room facilities or large single-room builds with zoned dehumidification, additional HS-1 units can be added to the same bus. Each receives an individual address, and the Hydro-X manages them as discrete stations. All humidity setpoints, Day/Night logic, and scheduling stay inside the Hydro-X interface — no separate app, no secondary controller, no integration overhead.
