The Faven GrowFlux Access Point (GFX-AP-NA) is the network gateway that brings your GrowFlux-enabled fixtures onto the GrowFlux cloud platform — enabling remote scheduling, zone dimming, and real-time monitoring without running control wiring to every light. Connect once via hardwired Ethernet; the on-site GrowFlux Mesh wireless network handles everything else.

What the GrowFlux Access Point Does

The GrowFlux Access Point is the single required gateway that bridges GrowFlux-enabled fixtures and sensors to the GrowFlux cloud platform over a standard hardwired Ethernet connection. Without it, GrowFlux Universal Dimmers are limited to manual pushbutton control only — the Access Point is what enables app-based scheduling, remote dimming, software-defined zone management, and cloud monitoring across the entire facility.

Setup is handled through the GrowFlux App using a short Bluetooth pairing sequence during initial configuration. Once the unit is online, Bluetooth is automatically disabled and the device communicates exclusively over the GrowFlux Mesh network. The Access Point does not support Wi-Fi — the hardwired Ethernet connection is intentional, trading wireless flexibility for the consistent, high-availability uptime a production environment requires.

Perpetual access to the GrowFlux platform's core feature set is included. API access for integration with third-party environmental control systems or custom dashboards is available under GrowFlux's advanced subscription tier.

GrowFlux Mesh — Built for Commercial Cultivation Infrastructure

Standard Wi-Fi and 2.4 GHz Bluetooth mesh struggle in the physical environment typical of a licensed cultivation facility: concrete floors, CMU block walls, metal stud partitions, and spray-applied insulation all attenuate signal significantly. GrowFlux Mesh sidesteps that problem by operating on sub-GHz frequencies (900 MHz), which penetrate concrete and masonry more effectively than higher-frequency consumer wireless standards.

Indoors through walls and floors, the Access Point delivers 500+ feet of usable range. In concrete-heavy structures — CMU walls, post-tension slabs, low-e windows — expect practical range of 100–300 feet through barriers, which is still sufficient to blanket most flower room footprints from a single central access point. Every powered GrowFlux Mesh device on the network (Universal Dimmers, Sensor Hubs, lighting adapters) also functions as a mesh repeater, so the network self-extends and self-heals as more devices come online.

A CR2032 battery-backed internal clock keeps all connected fixtures on schedule even through power and internet outages. When connectivity is restored, the Access Point syncs with the cloud without operator intervention. For facilities where the IT team manages firewall rules: the Access Point communicates only via outbound TCP on port 443, so no inbound firewall exceptions are required.

The GrowFlux Access Point (GFX-AP-NA) is compatible with all GrowFlux Mesh devices and GrowFlux Mesh-enabled fixtures designed for the North American market, including Faven's own fixture lineup. It is also compatible with GrowFlux Universal Dimmers controlling third-party 0–10V dimmable LED and 0–11.5V dimmable HPS fixtures — making it a viable network hub for mixed-technology rooms where legacy HPS and newer LED fixtures coexist under a single scheduling platform.

The Universal Dimmer's signal interface has been tested with LED drivers from Inventronics, Meanwell, Artesyn, Powerland, and others, and includes specialized support for dim-to-off drivers. All wireless traffic is AES-128 encrypted; all Ethernet/cloud communications use SSL. The Access Point cannot be accessed via inbound network requests, limiting its attack surface on a shared facility IT network. The GFX-AP-NA carries a one-year manufacturer limited warranty from Faven.

Is the GrowFlux Access Point required if I already have GrowFlux Universal Dimmers?

Yes, for any app-based or cloud-connected control. Without the Access Point, Universal Dimmers are limited to manual pushbutton dimming at the unit itself. Scheduling, remote control, zone management, and monitoring all require the Access Point to be installed and online.

How many Access Points does a multi-room facility need?

One Access Point supports up to 200 GrowFlux Mesh devices. For facilities exceeding that count, or where building construction limits wireless range between rooms, additional Access Points can be deployed per zone. Every powered GrowFlux Mesh device on the network also acts as a repeater, extending coverage beyond the Access Point's direct range.

Will the Access Point work on a managed commercial network with a firewall?

Yes. The Access Point uses only outbound TCP connections on port 443 (standard HTTPS) and cannot be accessed via inbound requests. Standard enterprise firewall rules do not need to be modified. If your network uses manual DHCP assignment rather than automatic, coordinate with your IT or network administrator before installation.

What happens to my light schedules if the internet goes down?

The Access Point's internal clock is backed by a CR2032 battery, which keeps the timekeeping circuit alive through power and internet outages. Connected GrowFlux Mesh devices continue executing their stored schedules without cloud connectivity. Once the internet connection is restored, the system syncs automatically.

Can the Access Point control non-Faven fixtures, including HPS?

Yes, when paired with GrowFlux Universal Dimmers. The Universal Dimmer's 0–10V interface is compatible with most 0–10V dimmable LED fixtures and 0–11.5V dimmable HPS fixtures from major manufacturers. Faven fixture compatibility is native; third-party fixture compatibility depends on the driver — confirm with the GrowFlux compatibility list for your specific models.
