The TrolMaster GCS-1 is the base station of TrolMaster's Green-X greenhouse control platform — an advanced, modular system designed to centralize oversight of the four environmental pillars that matter most in a commercial cultivation facility: climate, CO2, lighting, and irrigation. It is purpose-built for greenhouse environments where condition variability (internal and external) directly impacts yield consistency.
The unit ships as a ready-to-deploy kit: the GCS-1 controller, one MBS-GH 4-in-1 sensor (temperature, relative humidity, CO2 concentration, and a photocell for day/night detection), an RJ12 cable set for lighting connections, a 12V power adapter, and an RJ12 T-splitter. The TM+ Pro mobile app is free and available for iOS and Android, enabling remote monitoring, alert management, and setpoint adjustment from off-site.
The controller connects to your local network via the INTERNET port (wired Ethernet). Note: the GCS-1 does not have built-in Wi-Fi — a wired router or managed switch connection is required for app functionality.

The MBS-GH 4-in-1 sensor captures air temperature, relative humidity, CO2 concentration (in PPM), and ambient light level via photocell — all feeding directly to the GCS-1 base station over RJ12. Deadband settings for each parameter (temperature, humidity, CO2) allow operators to define response thresholds and avoid unnecessary equipment cycling.
Lighting control runs through two independent RJ12 channels (Line 1 and Line 2) using TrolMaster's LMA Lighting Adapters, supporting both LED and HID fixtures. Each channel has independent timer scheduling, dimming setpoints by temperature, and configurable power percentages — allowing two separate light zones or light types to be managed from a single controller. The system also tracks PPFD capture rate for light intensity monitoring when paired with an MBS-PAR full spectrum quantum sensor.
Irrigation management connects to TrolMaster's 24V and 110V valve/pump control boards (OA6-24, OAT-24, OA6-110) via the dedicated IRRIGATION port, supporting single-event, multi-event, and recycle timer schedules. Up to 8 combined irrigation device modules are supported. The DEVICES port handles DS-type climate modules (temperature, humidity, CO2, and timer stations), EC fan control, and motor controllers for greenhouse curtain automation (AMC-1, DMC-1).
The SENSORS port accepts daisy-chained or hub-expanded sensor inputs including the MBS-WS weather station (outdoor temp, humidity, wind speed, rainfall), MBS-PAR quantum sensor, MBS-SD smoke detector, water detector, water content sensors, and the AMP-3 nutrient sensor board for EC, pH, and medium temperature monitoring. A Micro SD slot is available for local data logging.
In a new greenhouse or retrofit build, the GCS-1 serves as the control backbone from day one. Wire the MBS-GH into the canopy zone for real-time environmental feedback. Connect your existing lighting circuit through the LMA adapters on Line 1 and Line 2. Add DS-type device stations for temperature-triggered HVAC, humidity-triggered dehumidifiers or foggers, and CO2-triggered injection — all addressable from the same base unit.
For multi-zone facilities, TrolMaster's SPH-1 8-port splitter hub allows multiple sensors to share a single SENSORS port without daisy-chain signal degradation. Additional irrigation control boards can be addressed to the base station up to the supported module limit, enabling centralized scheduling for drip, flood-and-drain, or ebb-and-flow systems across multiple tables or benches.
External conditions are incorporated by adding the optional MBS-WS weather station, which feeds outdoor temperature, humidity, wind speed, and rainfall data into the controller — enabling climate logic that responds to real outside conditions rather than fixed setpoints alone. Curtain and roll-up wall motor control (AMC-1 or DMC-1) then acts on those inputs, closing shade curtains during peak solar load or opening vents during ideal ambient conditions.
The Green-X platform's backward compatibility with existing TrolMaster sensors and accessories means operators already running Hydro-X or other TrolMaster systems in adjacent spaces can integrate peripherals across platforms where supported, protecting prior infrastructure investment.
