The A3 cable uses a 3-pin M12 connector configuration; the A4 cable uses a 4-pin M12 connector configuration. They are not interchangeable. Check which port type your specific Flexstar fixtures use — A3 ports require A3 cables, A4 ports require A4 cables. Using the wrong cable will not seat correctly and will leave the control chain incomplete.
Use the 10ft run when your fixtures are mounted close together — tight overhead rows, vertical rack builds, or narrow bay configurations where the center-to-center distance between fixture control ports is 10ft or less. If your fixture spacing is wider or you have a longer gap between fixtures in a high-bay or greenhouse layout, the 15ft cable gives you the reach without forcing a splice or extension.
The maximum number of fixtures per daisy chain run is determined by your specific Flexstar fixture model and controller — consult the fixture documentation or contact HSC for model-specific guidance before speccing a long chain. Exceeding the rated chain length for your controller can result in signal degradation across the run.
This cable carries the control signal (used for dimming, scheduling, and group control) between fixtures — it is not a power feed cable. Each fixture in the chain still requires its own independent power connection. The daisy chain cable simply links the control input from one fixture's output port to the next fixture's input port down the row.
