60% red spectrum under-canopy bar engineered for HPS rooms — 120W, IP66, 2.9 µmol/J.
The Faven R6 is a 120W, 46" dimmable LED bar built specifically to light the lower canopy in HPS/HID rooms. Its 60% red spectrum targets wavelengths that overhead HPS fixtures underdeliver, driving flowering, color consistency, and terpene concentration in the lower and middle canopy zones overhead lighting can't reach.
The Faven R6 is a 120-watt, 46-inch LED light bar designed from the ground up for sub-canopy and inter-canopy deployment in commercial cultivation environments. Unlike overhead fixtures repurposed for under-canopy use, the R6's housing is a single sealed unit — no seams, no exposed PCB cavities — achieving a verified IP66 ingress protection rating that holds up to IPM spray programs and commercial sanitization between runs.
The fixture outputs at a certified 2.9 µmol/J efficacy. Its optic-diffused bubbled lens eliminates hot spots across the bar face, delivering a uniform PPFD distribution into the mid and lower canopy rather than concentrating intensity directly beneath each diode cluster. Bars connect electrically end-to-end or via extension jumper cables, supporting daisy chains of up to 20 units per run at 240V or up to 10 units per circuit at 120V.
Faven offers two fixed spectrum models — the R6 (60% red) and the R8 (80% red) — selected based on the facility's top-light source. The R6 is the correct choice for rooms running HPS or other HID top lights. HPS fixtures are naturally heavy in the red, orange, and yellow wavelengths (ROY). The R6's spectrum incorporates more full-spectrum diodes to offset that ROY bias, producing a balanced light recipe underneath the canopy that HPS alone cannot supply.
This spectrum-balancing approach has been shown to increase not only yield and color uniformity but also cannabinoid concentration in the lower canopy. The goal is 500–800 µmol targeting the bottom half of the plant, with the ability to push higher intensities on bud sites closest to the fixture. Operators running full-spectrum LED top lights should specify the R8 instead.
The R6 dims to approximately 35–40% of maximum output via 0–10V signal, and is compatible with TrolMaster and Vivosun dimming controllers. Correct dimming protocol matters: ramp intensity up gradually from day 1 of flower, targeting 100% by day 14–15. In late flower, reduce to 60–80% intensity during the final two weeks to protect flower quality closest to the fixture. This staged approach eliminates light-stress risk while maximizing the productive window.
Placement depth depends on plant height at harvest. Faven guidelines indicate the R6 adds 14 to 20-plus inches of usable canopy depth when positioned correctly. For short plant profiles, the bar base can sit flush with the substrate lip on the first run. Stands (available separately in 8" and 12" heights) allow easy repositioning as the canopy develops. To determine how many units a bench row requires, convert bench length to inches and divide by 46.
The R6 is used in commercial cannabis and hemp facilities operating HPS top-light rooms that want to convert unproductive lower canopy into first-grade flower without adding square footage or overhead fixture wattage. The primary operational benefit is canopy depth recovery: lower bud sites that previously produced popcorn or B-grade smalls are brought into a proper photon environment, improving grade distribution per run.
Secondary benefits include reduced lollipopping labor — operators can leave more lower bud sites intact rather than removing them before flower — and improved color consistency from substrate to canopy top. The R6 qualifies for electrical utility rebates in many jurisdictions. Cords, stands, and extension jumper cables are sold separately. The R6 (60% red) is designed for rooms running HPS or other HID top lights, which are naturally high in red, orange, and yellow wavelengths. The R6 adds full-spectrum diodes to balance that bias in the under-canopy zone. The R8 (80% red) is the correct choice for rooms running full-spectrum LED top lights or greenhouse applications. Choosing the wrong model for your top-light type will underperform relative to the purpose-matched option.
Each R6 bar covers 46 inches of bench length. Convert your bench length to inches and divide by 46 — that gives the fixture count per row. Most commercial bench layouts run one row of bars per bench lane, though wider benches may need two rows. Contact HSC with your bench dimensions and row count for a layout review before placing a bulk order.
Start at reduced intensity on day 1 of flower and ramp up to 100% by approximately day 14–15. This gives plants time to acclimate to the added under-canopy photon load. In the final two weeks before harvest, dial back to roughly 60–80% intensity to protect the quality of flower sites closest to the fixture. Dimming is controlled via 0–10V signal through a compatible TrolMaster or Vivosun controller.
Yes. The R6 carries an IP66 ingress protection rating, which qualifies it for resistance to powerful water jets from any direction. The sealed, one-piece housing means there are no internal cavities that moisture can enter during spray applications or wash-downs. IPM programs and sanitation routines do not need to be scheduled around the fixtures.
Yes. The R6 uses a 0–10V dimming protocol compatible with TrolMaster and Vivosun dimming controllers. TrolMaster (using the LMA-14 lighting adapter) can control up to approximately 155–160 Faven fixtures per unit, with one adapter required per 75–80 lights. The R6 and R8 use the same control protocol and can be managed on the same controller setup.
