RJ12 port plugs that keep your Faven daisy-chain running and your IP66 rating intact.
The Faven Dummy Plugs (10-pack) are the factory-matched RJ12 plugs that seat into the female port on every Faven under-canopy fixture — maintaining circuit continuity and waterproof integrity whenever a dimming controller is not in line. A working spare stock for any facility running Faven R6, R8, R8 FR, or Chroma bars.
Every Faven under-canopy fixture ships with a female RJ12 port used for dimming-controller communication. When no controller cord is seated in that port, the fixture requires the dummy plug to be present in order to keep the daisy-chain powered on. Remove the plug without swapping in a live controller cord and the lights go dark — by design. The dummy plug completes the circuit in place of the RJ11 dimming wire, telling the fixture to run at full output.
Beyond circuit continuity, the plug also acts as a protective cap for the RJ12 port, preserving the IP66 waterproof rating Faven builds into every R-Series and Chroma fixture. In a cultivation environment — high humidity, IPM spray applications, sanitation washes — an unsealed port is a liability. Keeping a stock of these plugs on hand means a missing or damaged plug doesn't become a reason to take a fixture offline.
Any facility running Faven under-canopy lighting at scale should keep a supply of dummy plugs in the grow tech toolkit. The most common scenarios: a plug gets lost during a room flip or cleaning cycle; a technician pulls one to connect a Mini Controller and needs a replacement for the remaining fixtures not yet integrated into the dimming circuit; or a plug shows wear after repeated install-and-remove cycles in a high-traffic room.
The 10-pack format is practical for commercial installs where multiple benches are running independent daisy-chains. A single bench can hold multiple rows of fixtures, and each fixture not connected to a controller needs its own plug. Running spares eliminates the diagnostic step of chasing a 'lights won't come on' call back to a missing RJ12 plug — a quick swap is faster than troubleshooting the rest of the circuit.
The Faven dummy plugs are compatible with the full current Faven under-canopy fixture lineup: R6 (full-spectrum, HPS-room optimized), R8 (red-heavy, LED-room and greenhouse optimized), R8 FR (far-red variant), and Chroma (120W spectrum-programmable with independent 15W far-red channel). All share the same RJ12 port architecture for dimming and control connectivity.
Faven R-Series fixtures support daisy-chain runs of up to 10 fixtures at 120V, 17 at 240V, and 20 at 277V. Across a full commercial installation with multiple circuits, the number of fixture ports that need to be plugged — either with a live controller cord or a dummy plug — adds up quickly. The 10-pack gives enough coverage for a full bench or more in a single order.
Small accessories tend to be the highest-friction items in a grow facility: cheap enough to overlook at build time, critical enough to halt operations when missing. A dummy plug that gets dropped into a reservoir or kicked under a bench during a room flip can leave a fixture port unsealed and a circuit that won't power on. Keeping the 10-pack in the facility's maintenance cabinet avoids that scenario entirely.
For multi-site operators or facilities running large canopies on Faven fixtures, stocking these alongside other consumable accessories — power cords, jumper cables, controller dimming wires — is straightforward ops practice. Faven under-canopy fixtures require the RJ12 port to be occupied — either by a live controller cord or a dummy plug — in order to stay powered. If the port is empty, the fixture will not remain on when powered. The dummy plug holds the circuit in the 'on / full output' state so fixtures run normally without a controller in line.
Yes. The dummy plugs are compatible with all current Faven under-canopy fixture models: R6, R8, R8 FR, and Chroma. All share the same RJ12 port used for dimming and controller communication.
Removing the plug will not damage the fixture, but it will cause the lights to turn off. It also leaves the RJ12 port unsealed, which can compromise the fixture's IP66 waterproof rating in humid or spray-heavy cultivation environments. Replacing a missing plug promptly is best practice.
Each fixture not connected to a controller dimming cord needs its own dummy plug. On a bench with multiple daisy-chained rows where only a Mini Controller or CX2 handles the whole chain, every fixture in the chain has one RJ12 port that needs to be either plugged with a controller cord or a dummy plug. The count scales directly with fixture count, so the 10-pack is a practical baseline for any multi-bench setup.
