Faven Coupling

Keeps Faven under canopy bar connections locked tight through table movement, IPM cycles, and daily wear.

The Faven Coupling (SKU 10-010506-020) slides over the direct-connect joint between two Faven under canopy bars and locks them in place — maintaining a secure, waterproof connection even as rolling benches shift and cultivation traffic vibrates the row. Sold as a single unit, not a pair.

What the Faven Coupling Does

Faven's under canopy bars connect directly to one another end-to-end — no cord between them. That direct plug-to-plug design is clean and keeps wiring out of the canopy, but it introduces a vulnerability: any lateral movement of a rolling bench or jostling from routine grow traffic can gradually work those connections loose over repeated cycles.

The coupling addresses that exactly. It slides over the joint where two bars meet and mechanically locks the connection, preventing the incremental wiggle that leads to intermittent contact, power interruption, or a compromised waterproof seal. In a room running IP66-rated fixtures through regular IPM spray programs and high-pressure cleaning, a loose joint is the first place moisture finds its way in. The coupling eliminates that failure point.

Who Needs These — and How Many

Any commercial operator running Faven bars in a production environment should be speccing couplings alongside their fixture order. Single-plant or small hobby setups with no rolling bench movement may be fine without them, but in a commercial facility — where tables roll for access, rows run 20+ bars deep, and the room gets cleaned aggressively between cycles — couplings are maintenance prevention, not an optional add-on.

A practical rule of thumb used by Faven and their install partners: plan on approximately 80% of your total fixture count in couplings. If you're installing 24 bars on a bench, that's roughly 19 couplings to cover every bar-to-bar joint in the row. Order them with your initial fixture purchase to avoid a secondary freight order before your first run.

Compatibility and System Context

The coupling is designed for Faven's under canopy line, which includes the R6 (60% red, HID-complement spectrum), R8 (80% red, LED-overhead complement), R8 FR (far-red channel), and the Chroma (tunable R4–R9 with independent far-red, 2.9 µmol/J). All of these fixtures share the same direct-connect bar-to-bar interface, and the coupling is compatible across the line.

Faven fixtures are IP66-rated — dust-tight and resistant to high-pressure water jets from any direction — which is a baseline requirement for a fixture living inside a production canopy that gets sprayed on a schedule. The coupling supports that rating by keeping the connection joint from becoming the weak point in an otherwise sealed system. If you're running jumper cables across benches or extending rows, those connections are handled separately by Faven's jumper cable line (available in 3', 9', and 20' lengths); the coupling is specifically for the direct bar-to-bar joints within a row.

Ordering and Integration

The coupling is sold as a single unit — not a pair. Factor that into your count when speccing a room. For a facility doing a full build-out across multiple benches, add up your total bars per bench, calculate 80% of that count in couplings per bench, and multiply across your bench count for the facility total.

If you're planning a new install or expanding an existing under canopy system and want to make sure you're ordering the right quantity of fixtures, couplings, power cords, and jumper cables together, reach out through the quote request below. HSC works directly with the Faven line and can help you build an accurate accessory list alongside your bar order so nothing holds up your first run.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need couplings if my bars are already snapping together securely?

In a static installation they may hold on their own initially, but in any commercial environment with rolling benches, regular cleaning, or high foot traffic, bar-to-bar joints will work loose over time. Couplings are the mechanical lock that keeps those joints tight through the life of the install — they're maintenance prevention, not a redundancy.

How many couplings do I need for my bench?

The practical rule of thumb is approximately 80% of your total bar count. For example, a bench running 24 bars needs roughly 19 couplings to secure every bar-to-bar joint in the row. Because couplings are sold as singles, add them line-by-line when building your order.

Are these couplings compatible with both the R-series and Chroma fixtures?

Yes. The coupling is designed for Faven's under canopy bar line, which includes the R6, R8, R8 FR, and Chroma fixtures. All share the same direct-connect bar interface that the coupling is built to secure.

Does the coupling affect the IP66 waterproof rating of my fixtures?

The coupling supports the system's IP66 integrity by preventing the bar-to-bar joint from loosening. A loose joint is the most common way moisture compromises an otherwise-sealed fixture — especially in rooms running regular IPM spray programs or high-pressure sanitation between cycles. Keeping that joint locked is part of maintaining the waterproof system.

Can I order couplings through HSC alongside my Faven bar order?

Yes. HSC carries the full Faven accessory line alongside the fixtures. If you're speccing a new install or expanding an existing system, request a quote and we can build the complete accessory list — bars, couplings, power cords, and jumper cables — in a single order.
