What This Cord Does

The Faven Chroma Power Cord 3.0 is the required source-end cable for any Chroma-series under-canopy installation running on 277V. Unlike a generic power cord, it carries two signals simultaneously: the 277V AC supply to the first fixture in a daisy-chain, and the proprietary Faven digital control bus that passes scheduling, dimming, and spectrum commands from the controller down through every chained fixture.

That dual-signal design is why this cord is fixture-specific. Base Faven fixtures (R6, R8, R8 FR) use a different cord entirely — this one is keyed and wired specifically for the Chroma communication protocol. Attempting to use an R-series cord, or any non-OEM cable, will result in communication failure or intermittent operation. Faven also specifies OEM control wiring as a condition of Chroma fixture warranty.

One power cord is required per daisy-chain, installed at the head of the chain — between the power source and the first fixture. Extension (jumper) cables handle the fixture-to-fixture links within the chain.

Who Needs This Part

This cord is a consumable-class component for any licensed cultivation facility that has Faven Chroma fixtures installed on a 277V electrical infrastructure — the standard single-phase voltage found in most purpose-built commercial grow buildings. If your facility runs 277V circuits to the bench level, this is the correct cord variant.

It is most commonly needed in three scenarios: initial installations where cords were not included or were ordered separately from the fixtures; replacement of a damaged source cord in an existing Chroma room; or expansion of an existing bench layout that requires adding a second daisy-chain because the fixture count exceeds the 20-fixture maximum for a single 277V run.

Operators running Faven Chroma fixtures with GrowFlux wireless control, the Faven CX2 standalone controller, approved RS485 digital adapters, or 0–10V dimming systems all require this cord as the electrical and communication entry point for each daisy-chain.

Daisy-Chain Planning at 277V

At 277V, a single Faven Chroma power cord supports a maximum daisy-chain of 20 fixtures drawing 0.43A each. If your bench layout exceeds 20 Chroma units on a single circuit, the installation must be split into multiple chains, each with its own power cord on its own circuit.

A practical layout example: a bench with 8 lights per row across 3 rows totals 24 fixtures — that exceeds the 20-fixture limit, requiring two 277V power cords and separate circuit feeds. Size the number of cords you need against the total fixture count per bench before finalizing your electrical rough-in, not after.

Use Faven's bench-length formula to calculate fixture count per row: convert bench length to inches, divide by 46 inches per fixture, and round down. Multiply by the number of rows to get the bench total, then divide into daisy-chains of 20 or fewer to determine how many power cords the installation requires.

Discontinued Status — Read Before Quoting

Faven has discontinued the Chroma 3.0 Power Cord line, including SKU 10-010704-312. The brand is running out remaining stock and has confirmed it will not reorder or manufacture additional units. This is a final-sale, while-supply-lasts part.

For facilities with existing Chroma 3.0 installations, securing spares now is advisable — especially for large multi-bench rooms where a failed source cord takes a full daisy-chain offline. Do not spec this part into a new build or expansion project with a long procurement lead time without first confirming units are available to fulfill the full quantity needed.

Operators planning net-new Chroma supplemental lighting builds should contact HSC to discuss current Faven accessory availability and whether the updated Chroma cord ecosystem applies to their fixture configuration. Request a quote to check stock before committing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use this cord with my Faven R6 or R8 fixtures?

No. The Chroma Power Cord 3.0 is wired specifically for the Faven Chroma fixture series and carries the Chroma digital control protocol. It is not compatible with R6, R8, or R8 FR under-canopy fixtures, which require a different cord. Using the wrong cord will result in communication failure or no operation.

Why do I need a Chroma-specific cord instead of a standard 277V cable?

Standard 277V cords carry AC power only. The Faven Chroma system requires a cord that simultaneously delivers power and passes the proprietary digital control bus — the signal your controller uses to send dimming levels, spectrum adjustments, and scheduling commands to every fixture in the daisy-chain. A generic cord cannot carry that signal, so your fixtures will receive power but not respond to controller commands.

How many power cords do I need for my bench?

One power cord per daisy-chain, installed at the head of the chain. At 277V, a single chain supports a maximum of 20 Chroma fixtures. If your bench total exceeds 20 fixtures, split the installation into multiple chains on separate circuits — each chain requires its own power cord. Faven's formula for fixture count per row: bench length in inches ÷ 46 inches, rounded down.

This part is listed as discontinued — can I still order it?

Yes, while stock lasts. Faven is running out existing inventory of SKU 10-010704-312 and will not manufacture additional units. Request a quote to confirm current availability before committing to a project quantity. For large facilities needing multiple cords, check stock early — partial fills are possible as supply dwindles.

What controllers is this cord compatible with?

The Chroma Power Cord 3.0 supports the full range of Chroma-compatible control platforms: the Faven CX2 standalone controller, GrowFlux wireless control, approved RS485 digital adapters, and 0–10V dimming systems. The cord is the electrical and communication entry point for the daisy-chain regardless of which controller type is in use.
