It carries the RJ12 control signal between fixtures, controllers, and splitters in a daisy-chain run. The 'single-sided' configuration means one end uses Faven's watertight screw-on connector — rated IP67 — while the other end terminates in a standard RJ12 plug that seats into the female communication port on Faven power cords or compatible controllers.

IP67 means the connector is rated for complete dust ingress protection and temporary submersion up to one meter — well beyond what a commercial grow environment demands in normal operation. Where most signal cables rely on an unprotected push-clip RJ12 tab, Faven's screw-on watertight fitting creates a positive mechanical seal that resists moisture wicking, corrosion, and spray penetration at the mating face.

Who Needs It and When

Any operator running Faven under-canopy bars will need communication cables to build or extend their lighting control runs. The 10-foot single-sided cable is the standard reach cable for spanning the gap between fixtures on a bench, connecting the terminal fixture in a run back to a power cord's female communication port, or adding length to a run where the included cable falls short.

The single-sided watertight configuration is the correct choice when one end of the cable connects to a watertight fitting — such as a Faven T-splitter or a watertight power cord port — while the other end plugs into a standard (non-watertight) female RJ12 receptacle. If both ends of a cable segment need watertight protection, use the double-sided 15-foot variant instead. Choosing the correct cable type per junction keeps the entire run consistently sealed.

Wet-Environment Performance

Faven's under-canopy lighting system is built around the reality that commercial grow rooms are wet environments.
