The TrolMaster EFC-1 is the dedicated EC fan control adapter for the Tent-X Control System, enabling precise variable-speed management of both exhaust and intake EC fans via a field-selectable PWM or 0-10V output signal. One EFC-1 is required per fan circuit — one for exhaust (F1), one for intake (F2).
The TrolMaster EFC-1 is a compact signal-conversion adapter that bridges the Tent-X main controller (TCS-1) and any EC fan requiring either a PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) or 0-10V analog speed-control signal. Without this adapter, the Tent-X cannot drive EC fans at variable speed — the EFC-1 is the required interface that translates the controller's output into a signal format the fan's motor driver understands.
Mode selection is done directly on the adapter via an onboard button, and an LCD display confirms which output mode — PWM or 0-10V — is active. This means one adapter covers both signal types, so you're not locked into a single fan protocol at the time of purchase. Connect the EFC-1 to the Tent-X device port via RJ12 cable, connect your EC fan to the EFC-1's output port, address the adapter as F1 or F2, and the controller takes over speed management from there.
Each Tent-X controller supports up to two EFC-1 adapters simultaneously — one assigned to the exhaust fan circuit (F1) and one to the intake fan circuit (F2). The F1 exhaust position carries temperature- and humidity-driven control logic, including Cool Priority and Dehumidification Priority modes that let the controller decide which environmental parameter leads when both can't be satisfied at once. The F2 intake position is used to establish and hold negative pressure differential inside the space.
To run both fans, plug a Y-splitter (or the TrolMaster SPH-1 hub) into the Tent-X device port, then plug each EFC-1 into its own RJ12 port on the splitter. The controller auto-addresses each adapter as F1 or F2 on pairing. If your build only requires exhaust control to start, a single EFC-1 is functional — you can add the second adapter for intake control later without reconfiguring the controller.
PWM mode modulates the duty cycle of a pulse signal to set fan speed, which delivers fine-grained, step-accurate RPM control across the fan's full operating range. This is the preferred mode for EC fans with a dedicated PWM input — common on inline blowers and centrifugal fans built for grow-room use. If your fan's control spec lists a PWM input (often a 4-wire or 3-wire connector with a dedicated signal wire), select PWM on the EFC-1.
0-10V mode outputs an analog voltage between 0 and 10 volts to command fan speed, a widely used protocol across HVAC and commercial ventilation equipment. If your EC fan's control input is rated for 0-10V (also sometimes labeled 0–10 VDC or 2–10V on fan spec sheets), select 0-10V mode on the EFC-1. When in doubt, verify the fan manufacturer's speed-control input spec before selecting a mode — the EFC-1 supports both, but only one is active at a time.
The EFC-1 is sold individually. A complete intake-and-exhaust EC fan setup on a single Tent-X controller requires two EFC-1 adapters — budget accordingly when speccing a new room or retrofitting existing fan infrastructure to Tent-X control. The adapter's plug-and-play RJ12 interface means no low-voltage wiring work is required at installation; the connection is the same RJ12 format used throughout the TrolMaster accessory ecosystem.
Operators running multiple Tent-X zones — whether separate rooms, separate canopy sections, or isolated drying and propagation areas — will need one pair of EFC-1 adapters per controller. The Tent-X system supports EC Fan Control Adapter capacity of 2 per controller, confirmed in TrolMaster's published device-station limits. Plan EFC-1 quantities at one per fan circuit, per zone controller.

Two. Each fan circuit — exhaust (F1) and intake (F2) — requires its own EFC-1 adapter. You'll also need a Y-splitter or TrolMaster SPH-1 hub to connect both adapters to the single device port on the Tent-X controller.
