Plug-and-play CO2 relay module for the TrolMaster Hydro-X control platform.
The TrolMaster DSC-1 is the dedicated CO2 device station for the Hydro-X environmental control system — a single-pack relay module that puts automated, setpoint-driven CO2 management on your Hydro-X bus. Compatible with CO2 generators, tank solenoids, and CO2 exhaust controls rated up to 10A at 100–240 VAC, it ships complete with cable set.
The TrolMaster DSC-1 is a CO2 control and device station module purpose-built for the Hydro-X environmental control platform. It acts as the relay interface between your Hydro-X controller and any CO2 supplementation or exhaust device — generator burners, tank solenoids, CO2 controllers with a switched outlet, or CO2-triggered exhaust dampers.
Once addressed to the controller, the DSC-1 activates or deactivates the connected CO2 device based on the PPM setpoint programmed in the Hydro-X. When paired with TrolMaster's CO2 sensor (MBS-S8), the controller reads live PPM, the DSC-1 closes the relay when CO2 drops below target, and opens it when the setpoint is satisfied — a complete closed-loop CO2 dosing circuit over a single RJ12 bus.
The module supports the full world voltage standard (100–240 VAC, 50/60 Hz) at up to 10 amps, covering virtually every commercial CO2 device on the market at 120V or below.
The Hydro-X system is built on a modular RJ12 bus architecture. The DSC-1 daisy-chains into that bus alongside temperature, humidity, lighting, and timer device stations. Modules are addressed to the controller with a single button press — no dip switches, no configuration software. The HCS-1 (Hydro-X) supports up to two CO2 device stations per zone; the HCS-2 Pro and HCS-3 Plus scale further for multi-zone commercial operations.
For licensed cannabis and hemp facilities with high-CO2 cultivation protocols — targeting 1,200–1,500 ppm during lights-on periods — the DSC-1 is the hard control point that ties your CO2 hardware into the same centralized system managing temperature, humidity, and lighting. Running CO2 on a standalone timer is a common source of CO2 waste and out-of-window dosing; the DSC-1 closes that gap by making CO2 dispatch sensor-triggered and controller-coordinated.
The module also supports manual override via a button hold on the unit itself, giving cultivation staff a physical override without having to access the controller — useful during maintenance or crop transitions.
The DSC-1 is built for a working grow environment. Key hardware features include a 3-prong attaching plug for direct connection to standard outlets, an RJ12 cable socket for bus integration, plug-and-play addressing, and a front-panel LED power indicator that provides real-time module status at a glance.
LED behavior is diagnostic without needing a phone or app: a fast-blinking green LED indicates the module has not yet been addressed to the controller or has lost connection. A slow-blinking green LED means the module is addressed, connected, and currently in the OFF state (CO2 device inactive). A solid green LED confirms the module is addressed, connected, and actively switched ON. A blinking red LED signals an overload condition — unplug to reset.
The included cable set contains one 16 ft RJ12 cable, one 4 ft RJ12 cable, and one RJ12 T-splitter, covering most single-room installation layouts out of the box. Additional RJ12 cables and splitters are available separately for larger or more complex runs.
The DSC-1 is compatible with TrolMaster's Hydro-X (HCS-1), Hydro-X Pro (HCS-2), Hydro-X Plus (HCS-3), and Carbon-X control systems. All device station modules on the Hydro-X platform remain cross-compatible across controller tiers, so a DSC-1 installed on an HCS-1 today carries over if you upgrade the controller.
To build a complete closed-loop CO2 system, you'll need the DSC-1 paired with a CO2 sensor (TrolMaster MBS-S8) and a compatible Hydro-X controller if not already installed. The DSC-1 alone is a relay/switching module — it depends on sensor feedback at the controller level to deliver automated setpoint control. Without the sensor, the controller will not have live PPM data to trigger the relay.
HSC carries the full TrolMaster Hydro-X device station lineup — temperature, humidity, CO2, timer, dry-contact, and lighting adapter modules — as well as the compatible sensors and controllers. No — each DSC-1 is a single-relay, single-outlet module. It switches one device on or off. If you need to control both a CO2 generator and an exhaust device from the same zone, you'd use two DSC-1 units. The Hydro-X controller supports up to two CO2 device stations per zone.
No. The DSC-1 is the relay/switching module only. For closed-loop setpoint-driven CO2 control, you also need a compatible CO2 sensor (TrolMaster MBS-S8) connected to your Hydro-X controller. Without live PPM feedback, the controller cannot trigger the DSC-1 based on CO2 levels.
Any CO2 device rated at 10 amps or less at 120 volts can be controlled by the DSC-1. This covers most commercial CO2 burner generators, tank solenoid valves, and CO2-triggered exhaust controls. The module accepts 100–240 VAC input/output, making it compatible with standard US electrical infrastructure.
The front-panel LED tells you. A fast-blinking green LED means the module has not been addressed or has lost connection. Press the small button on the module once to address it to the controller when first installing. A slow-blinking green indicates addressed and connected but currently in the OFF state; solid green means addressed, connected, and actively switched ON.
Yes. The DSC-1 is compatible with both the Hydro-X series (HCS-1, HCS-2 Pro, HCS-3 Plus) and the Carbon-X control system. All Hydro-X platform device stations share a cross-compatible RJ12 bus architecture, so existing DSC-1 modules carry over if you upgrade your controller tier.
