The AS-1 is TrolMaster's entry-level audio/visual alarm station for the Carbon-X multi-zone CO2 safety system. The kit bundles the DSD-1 dry contact station and the AS-5 audible-visual alarm module with the cable set required for connection to the Carbon-X controller (CDA-1). The unit is rated for universal input voltage (100–240 VAC), so it installs cleanly in any commercial facility without voltage conversion.
When CO2 concentration in the monitored space climbs above the configured high-level threshold — or drops below the configured low-level threshold — the AS-1 triggers both an audible tone and a visible strobe/light, immediately alerting anyone in or near the room. The dry contact output (rated 30 VDC / 250 VAC, 6 A) can also be wired into a facility fire alarm panel, enabling full integration with a building's existing life-safety infrastructure.
Any licensed cannabis or hemp facility running supplemental CO2 enrichment faces two distinct risks: elevated CO2 from enrichment equipment malfunctions, and depleted CO2 that goes undetected. Regulators in most states require per-room audio/visual alarm coverage where supplemental CO2 is used. The AS-1 is purpose-built to satisfy that requirement as part of the Carbon-X platform.
The Carbon-X system is designed to monitor up to 13 separate zones, with up to 40 total output devices across the build. The AS-1 occupies one of those output slots per room. Facilities with multiple flower rooms, veg rooms, or mother rooms will typically deploy one AS-1 per space, all reporting back to a single CDA-1 controller. Dual-threshold monitoring: the Carbon-X system supports both high-level alerts (up to 30,000 ppm) and low-level alerts (floor of 5,000 ppm), and both limits are user-adjustable on the CDA-1 controller to align with local and state regulatory requirements. The AS-1 can be linked to the AL-1 channel, the AL-2 channel, or both simultaneously for full redundancy — ensuring no single sensor failure creates a blind spot.
The DSD-1 dry contact output included in the AS-1 kit provides N/O and N/C connections, enabling direct interface to a facility fire alarm panel. This allows the Carbon-X event to trigger a building-wide response — not just the local strobe — without additional relay hardware. The plug-and-play cable set simplifies commissioning: connect to the CDA-1's RJ12 device port, configure the sensor channel assignment, and the station is live.

The AS-1 is designed to operate as part of the TrolMaster Carbon-X system. It connects to the CDA-1 controller via the RJ12 device port and receives its trigger signal from the CO2 sensors registered to that controller. It is not a standalone detector — you need at least a CDA-1 and one CO2 sensor (such as the MBS-K30) in the system for the AS-1 to function.
