Color-coded audio/visual CO2 safety station with real-time LCD ppm readout for licensed cultivation facilities.
The TrolMaster AS-2 is an audio/visual CO2 alarm station that combines a color-coded LED display indicator with a real-time LCD ppm readout and an audible alarm — purpose-built for commercial cultivation environments running supplemental CO2. Ships with a 16 ft RJ12 cable set for plug-and-play integration into the Carbon-X CO2 safety system.
The TrolMaster AS-2 is a combination audio/visual alarm module and real-time CO2 concentration display. It mounts outside a grow room or cultivation bay and gives anyone approaching the door an immediate, unambiguous read on conditions inside — without having to open the door or pull up a monitoring app.
Three color-coded LED states communicate status at a glance: green indicates CO2 is below 800 ppm and the space is safe to enter; yellow indicates CO2 is at or above 800 ppm, meaning supplemental CO2 enrichment is active; and a blinking red LED paired with an audible alarm fires when CO2 exceeds the user-defined unsafe threshold set in the Carbon-X main controller. The LCD panel displays the live ppm reading continuously so personnel always have a numeric reference, not just a color signal.
The AS-2 is a peripheral device within TrolMaster's Carbon-X CO2 safety platform, which is designed to satisfy local and state regulations for supplemental CO2 use in commercial indoor growing facilities. The Carbon-X system (centered on the CDA-1 controller) supports monitoring of up to 13 separate zones and up to 40 total output device stations — including multiple AS-2 alarm stations for multi-room or multi-entry deployments.
The AS-2 connects to either the AL-1 or AL-2 CO2 sensor channel on the Carbon-X controller, or to both channels simultaneously for fully redundant coverage. Connection is via the included 16 ft RJ12 cable; modules are daisy-chained using standard RJ12 cables and splitters, allowing flexible layout and future expansion without rewiring. Note: the AS-2 requires the SPH-1 Supplemental Power Hub for operation — sold separately.
Alarm thresholds are set at the CDA-1 controller level, not on the station itself, so a single operator can define and adjust ppm limits across every zone from one point of control. The Carbon-X also supports automatic CO2 shut-off, ventilation triggering, and dry-contact fire panel integration — the AS-2 is the human-facing alerting layer of that larger safety chain.
Licensed cannabis and hemp facilities running CO2 enrichment above ambient levels are subject to occupational safety requirements in most states, including mandatory audio/visual alarm systems at or near room entries. The AS-2 addresses that requirement directly: it is specifically designed to be mounted outside the monitored space, giving any employee approaching the door clear confirmation of the current CO2 status before they walk in.
The Carbon-X system's high-level alert ceiling reaches up to 30,000 ppm and its low-level alert threshold starts at 5,000 ppm — both user-adjustable to align with jurisdiction-specific regulations. Pairing the CDA-1 controller with AS-2 stations at each grow-room entry is the straightforward path to building a documented, inspectable CO2 alarm infrastructure. The TrolMaster smartphone app also pushes remote alerts and notifications when unsafe CO2 levels are detected, providing an additional notification layer beyond the physical station.
The AS-2 ships as a complete kit: one alarm station unit and one 16 ft RJ12 cable. Installation is plug-and-go — connect the cable from the AS-2 to an SPH-1 powered splitter hub, which in turn connects to the CDA-1 Carbon-X controller. If longer cable runs are needed, the system supports standard straight-through RJ12 cable extensions; TrolMaster recommends using TrolMaster-spec cables to ensure signal integrity across the daisy chain.
For multi-entry facilities or facilities with separated canopy rooms, multiple AS-2 units can be deployed on the same Carbon-X system, each linked to one or both sensor channels. Each station can be individually configured at the CDA-1 to respond to the sensor channel most relevant to its physical location. The mixed-color LED array on the AS-2 (green/yellow/red) provides the broadest-visibility status indication for high-traffic corridors, break rooms adjacent to grow spaces, and main facility entries.

The AS-2 requires the TrolMaster Carbon-X controller (CDA-1) and the SPH-1 Supplemental Power Hub to operate. It is a peripheral station within the Carbon-X system, not a standalone detector. It does not contain its own CO2 sensor — it reads from the CO2 sensors (MBS-K30) connected to the CDA-1 on the AL-1 or AL-2 channels.
Yes. The Carbon-X system supports up to 40 total output device stations, which can include multiple AS-2 alarm units. This allows you to place an alarm station at every grow-room entry in a multi-room facility, all managed from the single CDA-1 controller.
Green (safe to enter) = below 800 ppm. Yellow (CO2 enrichment active) = 800 ppm and above. Red blinking + audible alarm = CO2 exceeds the high-level threshold set by the operator in the CDA-1 controller. The Carbon-X system's high-level ceiling is user-adjustable up to 30,000 ppm; low-level alerts start at 5,000 ppm.
The AS-2 is designed to be mounted outside the monitored grow space — at the room entry or corridor — so that personnel can read CO2 status before entering. It can also be mounted inside the room if required by your facility's safety plan.
All three models share the same audio/visual alarm and LCD ppm display functionality. The AS-2 uses mixed-color LED indicators (green/yellow/red), providing the most differentiated visual status. The AS-3 uses an amber/orange LED indicator and the AS-4 uses a blue LED indicator — both trigger their single-color LED for alarm conditions. Choose the AS-2 for the clearest multi-state visual feedback; choose AS-3 or AS-4 if your facility's protocol or signage system designates a specific color for a given zone or alert type.
