Lab-grade EC, TDS, salinity & resistivity in one benchtop kit — built for production grow environments.
The Apera EC800 (AI522) is a laboratory-grade benchtop meter that reads conductivity (EC), TDS, salinity, and resistivity simultaneously, backed by Apera's BPB platinum-black electrode technology and a full GLP data-management suite. Purpose-built for repeatable, audit-ready nutrient monitoring at commercial scale.
The Apera EC800 reads four parameters from a single probe submersion: electrical conductivity (EC), total dissolved solids (TDS), salinity (ppt), and resistivity — all displayed simultaneously on a large backlit LCD alongside solution temperature. For a licensed cultivator running a structured nutrient program, that simultaneous readout eliminates the round-trip math between parameters and gives your head grower a complete picture of solution chemistry in one glance.
EC is the core metric most cannabis and hemp operations track, but the ability to cross-reference TDS and salinity in the same session is particularly useful during formulation changes, RO water verification, or when troubleshooting runoff anomalies. The resistivity channel is relevant to teams supplying water-quality data for compliance documentation or working with clean-room propagation environments where ultra-pure water specs apply.
The EC800 kit sits in the middle of Apera's professional benchtop lineup — above field-portable meters in terms of stability and data management, and below research-tier dual-channel instruments in terms of complexity and cost. That positions it squarely for commercial indoor cultivation operations: dedicated propagation rooms, reservoir mixing stations, fertigation quality-control checkpoints, and post-harvest water testing.
If your team follows a documented SOPs and you need a meter that logs timestamped readings, stores 500 data sets, and exports via USB to your nutrient tracking spreadsheet or compliance documentation, the EC800 delivers that workflow without requiring a full laboratory budget. It is also a solid fit for contract testing labs serving cannabis operators who need multi-parameter coverage without a rack of single-parameter instruments.
The kit ships with Apera's 2301T-F BPB (Brush-Resistant Platinum Black) conductivity electrode — a glass-body probe with an integrated temperature sensor that handles the full 0–200 mS/cm measurement range at ±1% F.S. accuracy. The platinum-black cell construction is what differentiates it from low-cost graphite-cell electrodes: it maintains a stable cell constant over time and resists fouling from nutrient solution carryover. A flexible electrode arm and holder are included so the probe stays positioned consistently between samples.
Calibration runs 1 to 4 points with automatic standard-solution recognition. Three pre-mixed calibration solutions are included in the kit (84 µS/cm, 1413 µS/cm, and 12.88 mS/cm), covering the range most crop-production operations care about. A built-in calibration reminder prompts operators when recalibration is due, and the self-diagnosis function flags common calibration errors before they produce a bad reading. GLP data management stores 500 reading sets with timestamps; the USB port and included PC-Link software (Windows) allow direct export for record-keeping.
Auto temperature compensation runs from 0–50°C, which covers any realistic grow-room or reservoir temperature condition. The IP54-rated housing is splash-proof and dust-resistant — adequate for the wet benchtop conditions in an active irrigation or mixing room. The meter is CE and RoHS certified and is manufactured under ISO 9001:2015 quality system standards.
In a multi-room or multi-tier indoor facility, benchtop accuracy matters at the point where nutrient solution is mixed and verified — not just at the plant. A hand-held pocket tester at the bench introduces operator variability; a calibrated benchtop instrument with a fixed electrode holder and auto-lock stable-reading confirmation removes it. The EC800's 500-group GLP storage means your team can log every batch mix, every reservoir check, and every runoff sample without manually transcribing from a screen.
The included kit contains everything needed to start measuring: the EC800 meter, the 2301T-F BPB electrode, flexible electrode arm and holder, USB cable, PC-Link software flash drive, power adapter, and three calibration solution bottles. No additional purchases are required to put the instrument into service on day one. For operations already using Apera portable testers at the plant level, the EC800 on the bench creates a consistent measurement ecosystem with compatible calibration standards.
Apera backs the EC800 instrument with a 3-year manufacturer's warranty and the electrode with a 6-month warranty. Contact HSC to request a quote or to discuss volume pricing for equipping multiple workstations.

The EC800 adds multi-parameter simultaneous display (TDS, salinity, resistivity alongside EC), GLP data management with 500-group storage, USB data export, PC-Link software, auto-timing data logging mode, and the calibration reminder/record-check functions. The EC700 is a conductivity-and-temperature-only meter with 50-group storage and no USB export. For commercial operations that need traceable records and multi-parameter visibility, the EC800 is the step up.
Yes. The EC800 uses a standard BNC connector for the conductivity electrode, so it is compatible with any BNC-terminated conductivity probe. The included Apera 2301T-F BPB electrode is specified for the full 0–200 mS/cm range; if you swap to a different electrode, verify its cell constant and measurement range match your application.
The kit includes three pre-mixed solutions: 84 µS/cm, 1413 µS/cm, and 12.88 mS/cm. Most cannabis and hemp fertigation programs run reservoir EC between 1.0 and 3.5 mS/cm, which falls squarely within the 1413 µS/cm and 12.88 mS/cm bracket points. A two-point calibration using those two standards is appropriate for the majority of production nutrient monitoring use cases.
The EC800 exports stored GLP data sets via USB using the included PC-Link software, which is Windows-based. The software allows you to pull timestamped readings off the meter's 500-group memory and save or print records. For operations using a non-Windows environment or a purpose-built cultivation ERP, the raw USB output can typically be mapped with standard data-transfer tools — check your software's import specs against the USB CSV format.
