The hydrogen peroxide component simultaneously oxidizes and breaks apart biofilm colonies and inanimate organic particulate that acid alone cannot fully address.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I run Athena Renew while plants are in the room?

No. Renew must never be used in irrigation water that is actively feeding plants. It is strictly a between-run line cleaning product. Flush the system thoroughly and follow with Athena Reset before reintroducing plants or feed water to the irrigation circuit.

How long should I let Renew soak in the lines?

The recommended soak time is 12–24 hours in the main supply lines. After draining, run a secondary pass at 1–2 fl oz per gallon through the emitters themselves to clear the dripper orifices. Avoid pushing the initial soak solution through micro-drippers, as loosened particulate can clog small orifices.

We have hard well water and heavy calcium scale. Will one pass be enough?

For lines with heavy mineral accumulation — especially those that have also seen organic inputs — Athena recommends repeating the cleaning protocol multiple times until the flush water runs clear and flow rates normalize. Can I inject Renew through our existing dosing system?

Only if the system is compatible with oxidizers and is equipped with Viton or Aflas seals. A Dosatron rated for oxidizers is compatible. Venturi-based dosing systems (such as Netafim Rhythm or Netaflex) are not compatible — bypass the injector and hand-mix Renew directly into the reservoir for those setups.

Does Renew replace a disinfectant step, or do I still need Athena Reset?

Renew and Reset serve different functions and are not interchangeable. Renew clears inanimate scale and biofilm so surfaces are accessible to disinfectants. Athena Reset is an EPA-registered sanitizer/disinfectant that kills pathogens.
