The hydrogen peroxide component simultaneously oxidizes and breaks apart biofilm and inanimate organic particulates that acid-only products can't fully address.
This dual-mode chemistry is what separates Renew from standard phosphoric- or citric-acid line flushes. Acid alone descales but won't oxidize biofilm matrix; peroxide alone oxidizes but won't dissolve hard mineral scale. No. Renew must only be used between crop cycles when no plants are being actively irrigated. It is a between-run maintenance product, not a feeding-water additive. Never run it through a system that is delivering nutrients or water to plants.
For shock treatment of lines with visible biofilm or scale buildup, use 1 fl oz of Renew per gallon of water. Fill your reservoir with the diluted solution, push it through the entire system to charge all lines and emitters, then hold for up to 12 hours before flushing. For a final emitter clear, Athena's SOP recommends a second pass at 1–2 fl oz per gallon to flush drip tubes and drippers.
Athena's published Room Reset SOP calls for Renew first, then Reset. Renew removes the inanimate mineral and organic material; Reset then disinfects and sanitizes the cleaned surfaces. Running Reset without first removing scale and biofilm reduces its efficacy because organic material can shield surfaces from the disinfectant. The two products work as a sequence, not interchangeably.
