The formula is derived from Monopotassium Phosphate, Potassium Nitrate, Potassium Sulfate, Magnesium Sulfate, and Iron DTPA. Athena is explicit on this: Pro Grow should always be run alongside Pro Core. Pro Grow supplies the P-K-Mg-S backbone for veg, while Pro Core (14-0-0) delivers nitrate nitrogen, calcium, and the chelated microelements — boron, copper, iron, manganese, molybdenum, zinc — that complete the nutrient profile. Running Pro Grow alone will produce calcium and micro deficiencies. The recommended pairing ratio is 0.6 g of Pro Core per 1 g of Pro Grow.
Athena recommends converting Pro Grow to a concentrated liquid in a dedicated stock tank first, then using that concentrate to feed the reservoir or injection system. Mixing dry salts directly into a large reservoir introduces inconsistency and makes precise EC targeting harder. If direct reservoir mixing is the only option, measure by weight and dissolve fully before introducing to the irrigation line.
Nitrate nitrogen is immediately plant-available in controlled substrate environments and does not require microbial conversion, unlike urea. Ammoniacal nitrogen can suppress calcium and magnesium uptake when present in excess, which is a risk in high-intensity indoor production.
