What Athena Pro Fade Is

Athena Pro Fade is a liquid, nitrogen-free finishing formula purpose-built for the ripening phase of commercial flower production. It is part of the Athena Pro Line — a dry and liquid concentrate system designed around EC-based dosing and clean mineral formulations that scale predictably from single rooms to multi-thousand-square-foot canopies.

Fade's core function is to remove nitrogen from the late-flower feed while continuing to supply the immobile nutrients — primarily calcium and chelated microelements including iron, zinc, manganese, copper, molybdenum, and boron — that plants cannot redistribute from stored tissue reserves. The 275-gallon tote format is the appropriate scale for licensed commercial operations running high-frequency fertigation or large-volume stock tank programs, where single-gallon handling creates unnecessary labor and sourcing overhead.

The Problem Fade Solves

Excess nitrogen at the end of the flowering cycle is widely documented to delay flower maturation, blunt terpene expression, and hold back the color development associated with late-stage senescence. The instinct to run a plain-water flush addresses nitrogen accumulation but strips calcium and microelements at the same time — immobile nutrients the plant cannot pull from older tissue. The result is a crop that enters the harvest window calcium-deficient, which increases bud rot risk and compromises finish quality.

Fade resolves this by cutting nitrogen to zero while maintaining the calcium and micronutrient delivery the crop still requires. The formulation allows the plant to complete its life cycle — triggering natural chlorophyll degradation, terpene biosynthesis, and resin production — without the deficiency risk or disease pressure that hard flushing introduces during the most yield-sensitive weeks of the run.

How It Fits the Athena Pro Line Program

In the standard Athena Pro Line feed schedule, Fade replaces Pro Core during the final 2–3 weeks of the flowering cycle. Pro Bloom continues to run alongside it at its regular rate. The swap is operationally simple because Fade is formulated at the same stock-concentrate ratio as Pro Core — 2 lbs per gallon — so existing concentrate-mixing infrastructure and injection ratios require no recalibration.

Athena's own field testing, conducted across commercial runs, found that running Fade alongside Pro Bloom in the final weeks increased total cannabinoid and terpene production without increasing deficiency or bud rot incidence. EC should be monitored regularly throughout the Fade window and adjusted to crop response and growth stage. pH should be dialed in after all nutrients and additives are combined in the tank — do not combine Fade with other products in undiluted form.

Commercial Format and Handling

The 275-gallon intermediate bulk container (IBC tote) is the highest-volume format available for Athena Pro Fade and is the correct choice for commercial licensed cannabis operations that run Fade across multiple rooms or large canopy footprints simultaneously. At 10–19 mL per gallon of working solution, a 275-gallon tote represents significant coverage capacity, reduces per-unit cost relative to 1- or 5-gallon packaging, and eliminates frequent reorder cycles that interrupt program consistency.

Store Fade in its original sealed container at temperatures between 45°F and 85°F. Shake or agitate the tote before use and dispense with clean measuring instruments — never introduce anything into the container that could contaminate the concentrate. Frequently Asked Questions

Does Fade replace Pro Bloom or Pro Core?

Fade replaces Pro Core only. Pro Bloom continues to run at its normal rate alongside Fade during the final 2–3 weeks of the flowering cycle. The combination of Pro Bloom plus Fade — with Core removed — is the intended end-of-flower protocol in the Athena Pro Line schedule.

Why not just flush with plain water instead of using Fade?

A plain-water flush removes nitrogen but also strips calcium and chelated microelements — nutrients that are immobile in plant tissue and cannot be redistributed from older leaves. Deficiencies during the ripening window increase bud rot risk and compromise finish quality. Fade eliminates nitrogen while keeping calcium and micronutrient delivery intact so the crop can complete its life cycle without deficiency pressure.

Is the application rate the same as Pro Core so I don't have to recalibrate my injection system?

Yes. Fade is designed at the same stock-concentrate ratio as Pro Core — 2 lbs per gallon — so it integrates into an existing Pro Line mixing and injection setup without changes to concentrate ratios or tank programming. Working-solution rate is 10–19 mL per gallon; monitor EC and adjust to crop response.

Can Fade be used in hydroponic and soilless systems as well as soil?

Yes. Athena Pro Fade is formulated for use across soil and hydroponic production systems. The same mineral-based, chelated micronutrient profile that prevents deficiency in media-based cultivation applies equally to recirculating and drain-to-waste hydroponic programs.
