What It Is

Athena Blended Grow B is a pre-mixed liquid concentrate with an NPK of 1-3-5, formulated as Part B of the Athena Blended Line's two-part vegetative nutrient pair. Where Grow A (4-0-1) supplies the nitrogen and calcium fraction, Grow B delivers available phosphate, soluble potash, and magnesium sulfate — the mineral salts that cannot be concentrated in the same bottle as calcium without precipitating out of solution.

The two-part architecture is not a marketing choice; it is a chemistry requirement. Keeping calcium-bearing inputs separate from phosphate and sulfate sources in concentrated form prevents precipitation and ensures the correct mineral ratios reach the root zone every time they are diluted together in the tank. Grow A and Grow B are always used in equal volumes and should never be combined undiluted.

Athena launched the Blended Line as a liquid alternative to its Pro Line dry concentrates, carrying the same nutrient philosophy — clean elemental inputs, EC-based dosing, minimal additives — in a format that requires no weighing and no stock-tank pre-mixing. The 5-gallon size is the standard commercial format for operations that run the Blended program at scale.

That includes multi-light indoor facilities running recirculating systems, coco drain-to-waste operations, and rockwool-based production where irrigation frequency is high and emitter cleanliness is non-negotiable.

The sediment-free, fully soluble formula is compatible with Dosatron injectors, Netaflex dosing systems, automated fertigation controllers, and hand-watering — any irrigation method an operator is likely to run. Fine dripper heads and inline emitters that would clog on particulate-heavy fertilizers are not a concern with Grow B.

Operators who already run Athena's Pro Line at their primary facility sometimes run the Blended Line at a satellite or propagation room where mixing stock tanks is impractical. The chemistry is consistent across both product lines, so EC targets and feed schedules translate cleanly between them.

Sediment-free formula: Grow B dissolves completely in all water conditions — RO, municipal, and well water — leaving no residue in reservoirs, no buildup in lines, and no clogging at emitter heads. Small amounts of micro-particles may occasionally be visible under certain conditions but will not affect mineral balance or system compatibility.

Chelated micronutrients: The formula contains copper EDTA alongside the primary macronutrient salts (monopotassium phosphate, potassium nitrate, magnesium sulfate, monoammonium phosphate), providing micronutrient support across a broader pH range than unchelated mineral inputs. Wider effective pH range means less sensitivity to minor pH drift during the veg cycle.

Scalable dosing: Application rates run 2–15 mL per gallon, giving growers the ability to start seedlings and cuttings at the low end and ramp to full-strength feed for mature vegetative plants without switching products. Athena publishes a complete Blended Line feed schedule — a 13-week week-by-week program covering Propagation, Veg, Flower, and Finish stages — that specifies EC targets and dosing rates for each phase.

No dry-salt handling: Unlike powder-based nutrient programs, there is no weighing, no risk of inaccurate measurements from scale drift, and no dust. Liquid-to-liquid mixing with a calibrated measuring instrument is the entire prep process.

How It Fits a Commercial Build

Grow B is purchased and used alongside Grow A throughout the vegetative stage — from rooted cuts or seedlings through canopy development. When plants transition to flower, the pair rotates out and Athena Blended Bloom A and Bloom B take over. The Blended Line's supplemental products — CaMg for RO-water or inert-media grows, PK booster for mid-to-late flower, Balance for pH stabilization, and Cleanse for system maintenance — integrate directly into the same feed schedule.

For operations growing in coco coir, rockwool, or peat-based media, Grow B's sulfate and phosphate profile covers what those inert substrates do not buffer. CaMg supplementation is commonly added when working with RO water or coco, where calcium and magnesium must be supplied entirely through the nutrient solution rather than drawn from the media.

The 5-gallon format is the practical unit for facilities running continuous veg cycles.
