Athena Blended Grow A

4-0-1 Part A of Athena's 2-part liquid veg base — sediment-free, system-safe.

Athena Blended Grow A (4-0-1) is the nitrogen- and calcium-leading Part A of the Athena Blended Line's vegetative two-part base. Run it in equal volumes with Grow B across the entire vegetative phase — no dry salts, no weighing, no sediment to manage in lines or emitters.

What Athena Blended Grow A Is

Athena Blended Grow A is the calcium- and nitrogen-forward Part A of a two-part liquid vegetative base nutrient built for licensed cannabis and hemp cultivators. The NPK is 4-0-1, and the guaranteed analysis adds 4.2% calcium, 0.19% magnesium, and a full chelated micronutrient package — chelated iron (Fe-EDTA and Fe-EDDHA), chelated manganese, chelated zinc, chelated copper, boron, and molybdate — all in a single pourable liquid.

Grow A is always paired with Grow B in equal volumes. Grow A handles nitrogen, calcium, and the micronutrient fraction; Grow B carries phosphorus, additional potassium, and sulfate-form magnesium. Keeping incompatible salt groups in separate bottles is what makes the two-part architecture work — and what lets both parts stay fully stable in concentrate form until they hit the dilution tank.

Athena sources this under their Blended Line — a liquid nutrient program designed as a practical alternative to their Pro Line dry concentrates. The Blended Line targets operations where liquid handling is preferred: smaller facilities, operations running multiple strain-specific reservoirs, or any grow where the infrastructure for large dry-salt mixing tanks is not in place.

Who It's Built For

Grow A is a practical fit for licensed indoor and greenhouse operations running hydroponic, coco, rockwool, or peat-based media. The sediment-free liquid formula is cleared for fine-dripper emitters — Topspins, Floraflex, and similar heads that would clog with particulate-laden concentrates.

The 2–15 mL/gallon adjustable dose range gives vegetative rooms the flexibility to ramp intensity from early propagation through late veg without switching products. Rooms dialing in EC targets for different cultivars or growth stages adjust volume rather than switching formulas, which keeps the program repeatable.

Operations already running Dosatrons, Netafim, or any proportional injection system can drop Grow A straight into a stock tank. It's compatible with automated dosing equipment across the board. For rooms hand-watering or running simple reservoir systems, the pour-and-mix workflow is equally straightforward.

Key Formulation Details

The 4.0% total nitrogen in Grow A is predominantly nitrate-form (3.8% nitrate nitrogen) with a small ammoniacal fraction — a ratio designed to support lush canopy development during veg without pushing excessive ammonium uptake, which can create pH drift and tip-burn in recirculating systems.

Calcium at 4.2% is meaningful for coco and rockwool runs, where the substrate itself contributes no calcium and reverse-osmosis source water brings none in. Grow A's calcium load gives growers a baseline in the base nutrient rather than relying entirely on a separate cal-mag supplement, though Athena's CaMg additive remains available for operations with higher demand.

Chelated micronutrients — iron delivered via both EDTA and EDDHA chelation — maintain availability across a broader pH range than unchelated mineral salts. That's relevant in any system where feed-solution pH isn't perfectly locked. The formula is mineral-only: no enzymes, no humic acids, no organic carbon fractions that can feed biofilm in drip lines.

How Grow A Fits the Blended Line Program

Athena's published Blended Line feed schedule runs 13 weeks from propagation through finish. Grow A and Grow B run together through the vegetative phase; at the flip to flower, the operator switches to Bloom A and Bloom B — Grow drops out entirely rather than running alongside Bloom. This clean stage separation is intentional: it keeps the formula matched to plant demand at each phase rather than blending veg and flower chemistry into a single catch-all.

Supplemental products layer around the base: Athena CaMg for calcium and magnesium corrections, Balance (potassium silicate) for pH stabilization, PK booster from week three of flower, and Cleanse for line maintenance and pre-harvest flush. None of those are required to run Grow A, but the Blended Line is designed to be run as a program, and each additive has a defined role on the feed chart.

Grow A is available from Hydro Supply Co. as a standalone 1-gallon unit (SKU: LQ-GWA-1G) or alongside the full Blended Line. Bulk sizing — 55-gallon drums and 275-gallon IBC totes — is available for operations that have moved the program into production scale. Request a quote to discuss volume and program pricing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I run Grow A by itself, or always with Grow B?

Always with Grow B, in equal volumes. Grow A carries the calcium, nitrogen, and chelated micronutrient fraction; Grow B handles phosphorus, potassium, and sulfate magnesium. The two-part split keeps chemically incompatible salts separated until they hit the dilution water. Never combine A and B in undiluted concentrate form — always add each to water separately.

Does Grow A work in coco and rockwool, or only in hydro?

It works across coco, rockwool, DWC/recirculating, and peat-based media. The formula is designed for hydroponic-style mineral feeding and carries enough calcium (4.2%) to provide a meaningful baseline in inert media. For heavy RO or coco runs where calcium demand is highest, Athena's CaMg supplement can be stacked on top as the feed chart calls for.

Is Grow A safe for fine dripper heads and Dosatron injection?

Yes. The formula is sediment-free and specified as compatible with fine dripper emitters and all proportional dosing equipment including Dosatrons. Small micro-particles may occasionally be visible but Athena states these do not affect mineral balance or system compatibility.

When does Grow A come out of the program, and what replaces it?

Grow A and Grow B run through the full vegetative phase and are replaced by Bloom A and Bloom B at the transition to flower — they do not run concurrently with the Bloom base. The switch is a clean cutover, not a taper alongside each other. Athena publishes a 13-week Blended Line feed schedule with exact week-by-week EC targets and switch points.

Can I get Grow A in bulk sizing for a larger facility?

Yes. Athena's Blended Line is available in 55-gallon drums and 275-gallon IBC totes for operations that have moved past case quantities. Contact Hydro Supply Co. for bulk availability and volume pricing on Grow A and the full Blended Line program.
