The TrolMaster ARS-1 AC Remote Station is a universal IR-learning module that integrates virtually any remote-controlled mini-split or window AC unit into the TrolMaster Hydro-X ecosystem — enabling fully automated, photocell-triggered day and night temperature setpoints without touching the handheld remote again.
Mini-split AC units are the backbone of climate control in most commercial grow rooms — but their stock remotes only accept manual input. The ARS-1 solves that by acting as a universal IR-learning bridge between the Hydro-X control system and any infrared-remote-controlled AC unit. The station captures the IR codes from your existing AC remote through a simple teach procedure, then replays those exact signals automatically based on the programmed schedule.
Once the ARS-1 has learned your AC's IR codes, you set day and night temperature targets inside the Hydro-X interface. The ARS-1 then fires the appropriate IR command to the indoor head unit whenever the Hydro-X photocell transitions between day and night states — no manual intervention required. The result is consistent, repeatable temperature transitions every light cycle without any physical access to the remote or the unit.
The ARS-1 is designed to work with most mini-split AC systems and select window AC units — the single compatibility requirement is that the AC unit shipped with an IR (infrared) handheld remote. The station is brand-agnostic across a wide range of manufacturers. Note: TrolMaster documents that the ARS-1 is currently not compatible with certain specific brands including Daikin, Mr. Cool, Innovair, Denali Aire, Cooper and Hunter — confirm your unit's brand before ordering.
System integration requires a TrolMaster Hydro-X controller (HCS-1 or compatible). The ARS-1 connects via RJ12 cable and receives an address assignment from the Hydro-X at first boot. Up to 24 temperature setpoints for both unary and binary remote control types can be learned. Firmware updates are handled via Micro-SD card (32 GB or smaller). All cables and the IR emitter are included in the box.

Yes. The ARS-1 is a station module, not a standalone controller. It requires a TrolMaster Hydro-X system (HCS-1 or compatible) connected via RJ12 cable for scheduling, photocell input, and setpoint programming. It does not function independently.
During setup, the ARS-1 enters a learning mode. You point your existing AC remote at the ARS-1 and press the buttons corresponding to your desired setpoints. The ARS-1 captures and stores those IR signals. After learning, the unit replays those exact signals to the AC head through the included IR emitter on the Hydro-X schedule.
Yes. Each ARS-1 receives a unique address from the Hydro-X at first boot. Multiple ARS-1 units can coexist on the same RJ12 bus, allowing one Hydro-X system to manage temperature setpoints across multiple AC zones or rooms independently.
