What the Delta-1 Is

The Delta-1 is a compact variable frequency drive (VFD) custom-configured by Delta for use inside TrolMaster's Hydro-X Pro ecosystem. It sits between your Hydro-X Pro controller — via the VFD-1 module — and any 3-phase AC motor driving industrial supply, exhaust, or circulation fans in your facility. The drive outputs 3PH 0–460V across a 0–599Hz frequency range, which translates to continuous, stepless speed control rather than the binary on/off switching of a standard relay.

Unlike an off-the-shelf Delta ME300 you'd have to program yourself, the Delta-1 arrives with all required parameters already set. Plug in the included RJ45 cable between the drive and your VFD-1 module and the system is ready to operate. There is no parameter editing, no drive commissioning, no guessing at acceleration ramps or carrier frequencies — the work is done.

Who It's Built For

Licensed cannabis and hemp operators running commercial-scale ventilation on 3-phase power are the primary use case. Any facility where HVAC engineers have specified 3-phase inline fans, centrifugal fans, or industrial wall-mount fans on a 380–480V feed can use the Delta-1 to bring those motors under Hydro-X Pro automation. That includes purpose-built cultivation buildings, converted warehouse conversions, and multi-room licensed facilities running dedicated environmental control zones.

If your current ventilation setup runs at a fixed speed — full-on or off — you are leaving efficiency on the table. VFD control lets the Hydro-X Pro ramp fan speed in response to real-time temperature, humidity, and CO2 readings, which reduces energy draw during stable conditions and extends motor life by eliminating hard starts. For operators running high-density canopy environments where VPD precision directly affects yield, that level of control matters.

Important constraint: the Delta-1 is a 3-phase drive only. Single-phase motors cannot be controlled by this unit or the VFD-1 module. Confirm your fan motor nameplate before ordering.

Key Features and Integration

The Delta-1 pairs exclusively with TrolMaster's VFD-1 module, which itself connects to the Hydro-X Pro via a standard RJ12 phone cable requiring no external power supply. The Delta-1 connects to the VFD-1 via the included RJ45 cable, completing the signal chain from environment sensor → Hydro-X Pro controller → VFD-1 module → Delta-1 drive → fan motor.

On the electrical side, the drive accepts 3PH 380–480V 50/60Hz input — covering standard US commercial 3-phase feeds — and delivers 0–460V output. Under Normal Duty rating it handles 10.5A output / 8.0KVA; under Heavy Duty it dials back to 9A / 6.9KVA, both at 3.7KW. Enclosure is IP20/UL Open-Type rated for ambient temperatures of -20°C to 50°C. NEMA 1/UL Type 1 protection is achievable when installed with an optional conduit box kit, dropping the ambient ceiling to 40°C.

Because all drive parameters are factory-preset for the TrolMaster ecosystem, facility technicians and electrical contractors do not need VFD programming experience to commission this unit. That reduces installation labor and the risk of misconfiguration that can damage motors or void equipment warranties.

How It Fits a Commercial Build

In a Hydro-X Pro deployment, the Delta-1 fills the gap between the controller's automation logic and the physical airflow equipment. The Hydro-X Pro monitors environmental parameters room by room; the VFD-1 module translates controller commands into analog speed signals; and the Delta-1 executes those signals at the motor. The result is a fully closed-loop ventilation system where fan speed is a continuous variable tied directly to room conditions — not a fixed set point or a manual throttle.

For facilities with multiple grow rooms or zones, each room requiring VFD fan control will need its own VFD-1 module and a compatible drive. The Delta-1 is one of the verified drives in the TrolMaster ecosystem (alongside TECO E510 and ABB ACS355 with FMBA-01). Sourcing the Delta-1 through HSC ensures the drive you receive is the TrolMaster-customized configuration — not a standard Delta ME300 that requires manual parameter entry.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Delta-1 work with any VFD controller, or only TrolMaster?

The Delta-1 is custom-configured specifically for TrolMaster's VFD-1 module and Hydro-X Pro system. Its parameters are factory-preset for that ecosystem. It can physically be wired as a standalone VFD, but it is engineered and sold as a TrolMaster-integrated component. If you need a general-purpose drive, a standard Delta ME300 is the base unit — but you'll need to program it yourself.

Can I use the Delta-1 with a single-phase fan motor?

No. The Delta-1 only operates 3-phase AC motors. Single-phase motors are not compatible with the Delta-1 or the VFD-1 module. Verify your fan motor's nameplate phase specification before ordering.

What input voltage does my facility need to run the Delta-1?

The Delta-1 accepts 3-phase 380–480V at 50 or 60Hz. Standard US commercial 3-phase service at 460V falls squarely within that range. If your facility runs 208V or 240V 3-phase, this drive is not the correct unit — check with your electrical team before purchasing.

Do I need to program the drive after installation?

No. The Delta-1 ships with all required parameters preset for operation with the VFD-1 module. Connect the included RJ45 cable between the drive and the VFD-1, wire the motor terminals, and the drive is ready to accept speed commands from the Hydro-X Pro. No drive programming software or keypad parameter entry is required.

Can I achieve NEMA 1 enclosure protection with the Delta-1?

Yes, with an optional conduit box kit the Delta-1 is rated NEMA 1 / UL Type 1. In that configuration the ambient temperature ceiling drops from 50°C to 40°C. The base unit without the conduit kit is IP20 / UL Open-Type rated to 50°C ambient. The conduit box kit is a separate accessory — confirm availability when requesting your quote.
