It carries no data protocol of its own — it is a straight-through extension with a male connector on one end and a female connector on the other, designed to mate directly with the IR emitter port on the ARS-1 AC Remote Station or the Beta-1 Digital Day/Night Remote Controller.

The ARS-1 and Beta-1 control mini-split air conditioners by learning IR signal codes from the unit's original remote, then replaying those codes automatically through a small IR emitter. The emitter must maintain line-of-sight to the mini-split's IR receiver. In many commercial grow room layouts, the controller's ideal mounting location and the mini-split head unit's IR receiver window are not close to each other — the ECS-8 solves that gap with a clean, factory-spec cable extension rather than a workaround.
