24V Control Board, 6 individual 24V controlled output for solenoid valve control

6-zone 24VAC solenoid control — scalable to 30 outputs via Aqua-X daisy chain.

TrolMaster OA6-24 is a 24VAC control board purpose-built for the Aqua-X Irrigation Control System, providing six individually scheduled solenoid valve outputs from a single compact module. Stack up to five boards per Aqua-X controller to manage as many as 30 independent irrigation zones across multiple rooms, nutrients, or crop varieties.

What the OA6-24 Is

The TrolMaster OA6-24 is an expansion control board for the Aqua-X Irrigation Control System. It adds six independently scheduled 24VAC solenoid valve outputs to an Aqua-X controller, enabling automated, zone-level irrigation without a separate standalone irrigation timer or PLC. Each of the six outputs operates on its own timer schedule, so different zones — drip rows, top-feed manifolds, flood tables — can run on completely different cadences from the same board.

The board connects to the Aqua-X controller via RJ12 cable and daisy-chains to additional OA6-24 units or compatible boards. Up to five boards can be run off a single Aqua-X controller, yielding a maximum of 30 individually controlled outputs. That ceiling covers most medium-to-large indoor facilities without adding a second controller.

Who It's For

The OA6-24 is the right board for licensed cannabis and hemp operators already running — or building out — a TrolMaster Aqua-X ecosystem. If your facility uses 24VAC solenoid valves (standard in commercial drip, flood-and-drain, and NFT setups) and you need per-zone scheduling without manually staggering valves, this board is the straightforward solution.

It's particularly well-suited to multi-room grows, where different environments have different irrigation schedules, and to multi-nutrient facilities where separate feed lines need to fire on independent timers. Operators expanding an existing Aqua-X installation — adding a new room, a new bench row, or a new crop variety — can add a board without replacing any existing hardware.

Key Features

Each of the six outputs has a dedicated LED indicator, making it fast to visually confirm which zones are active during a walkthrough — no logging into a dashboard to check valve state. An addressing button and onboard LED power indicator round out the status feedback. The board's dual RJ12 sockets allow daisy-chain expansion in either direction, keeping cable runs clean and installation straightforward.

The OA6-24 is also compatible with the TrolMaster DSP-1 Program Device Station to create an automatic pump-link: when any of the 24VAC irrigation zones activate on the OA6-24, the DSP-1 automatically energizes the pump, and shuts it off when all zones return to idle. This eliminates the need for a separate pump relay timer and reduces the risk of running a pump dry. Input voltage is universal (100–240 VAC, 50/60 Hz), so the board works on standard US commercial electrical without an adapter.

How It Fits a Commercial Build

In a new build or retrofit, the OA6-24 lives on the irrigation control panel alongside the Aqua-X controller. Each output terminal connects to one 24VAC solenoid valve — one per zone, row, or manifold branch. A single 16 ft RJ12 cable is included in the box for the first connection; subsequent boards chain off each other. Because the board communicates natively within the Aqua-X ecosystem, all zone schedules are managed from the same Aqua-X interface used for the rest of the grow environment, with no secondary app, bridge, or protocol conversion required.

For facilities planning canopy expansion or phased buildouts, buying one OA6-24 now and daisy-chaining additional boards later keeps upfront hardware costs in line with actual zone needs. The modular architecture means the irrigation control layer scales at the same pace as the physical grow space — add a board when you add a room.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many OA6-24 boards can I connect to one Aqua-X controller?

Up to five OA6-24 boards can be daisy-chained to a single Aqua-X controller, giving you a maximum of 30 individually controlled 24VAC outputs. Note that if you're mixing board types (OA6-24, OA6-110, and DSP-1), the combined total across all board types still cannot exceed five units.

Does this board work with standard 24VAC irrigation solenoid valves?

Yes. The OA6-24 drives standard 24VAC solenoid valves — the same format used widely in commercial and residential irrigation. This gives you a broad choice of compatible valve hardware from multiple manufacturers.

Can I add automatic pump control alongside the solenoid zones?

Yes. Pairing a TrolMaster DSP-1 Program Device Station with the OA6-24 creates a pump-link: whenever any of the six 24VAC zones activates, the DSP-1 automatically starts the pump, and shuts it off when all zones return to idle. No separate pump relay timer is needed.

Does each output have its own independent schedule, or do all six zones fire together?

Each of the six outputs has its own individual timer schedule set through the Aqua-X controller interface. Zones are completely independent — different run durations, frequencies, and start times can be assigned to each output.

I already have an Aqua-X controller. Can I add an OA6-24 without replacing my existing setup?

Yes. The OA6-24 is an expansion board and connects to an existing Aqua-X controller via the included RJ12 cable. If you already have OA6-24 boards in the chain, additional boards daisy-chain off the last unit. No controller replacement or reconfiguration is required — just connect, address the board, and configure the new zones.
