What the OA6-24 Is

The TrolMaster OA6-24 is an expansion control board for the Aqua-X Irrigation Control System. It adds six independently scheduled 24VAC solenoid valve outputs to an Aqua-X controller, enabling automated, zone-level irrigation without a separate standalone irrigation timer or PLC. Each of the six outputs operates on its own timer schedule, so different zones — drip rows, top-feed manifolds, flood tables — can run on completely different cadences from the same board.

The board connects to the Aqua-X controller via RJ12 cable and daisy-chains to additional OA6-24 units or compatible boards. Up to five boards can be run off a single Aqua-X controller, yielding a maximum of 30 individually controlled outputs. That ceiling covers most medium-to-large indoor facilities without adding a second controller.

Each of the six outputs has a dedicated LED indicator, making it fast to visually confirm which zones are active during a walkthrough — no logging into a dashboard to check valve state. An addressing button and onboard LED power indicator round out the status feedback. The board's dual RJ12 sockets allow daisy-chain expansion in either direction, keeping cable runs clean and installation straightforward.

The OA6-24 is also compatible with the TrolMaster DSP-1 Program Device Station to create an automatic pump-link: when any of the 24VAC irrigation zones activate on the OA6-24, the DSP-1 automatically energizes the pump, and shuts it off when all zones return to idle. This eliminates the need for a separate pump relay timer and reduces the risk of running a pump dry. Input voltage is universal (100–240 VAC, 50/60 Hz), so the board works on standard US commercial electrical without an adapter.

How It Fits a Commercial Build

In a new build or retrofit, the OA6-24 lives on the irrigation control panel alongside the Aqua-X controller. Each output terminal connects to one 24VAC solenoid valve — one per zone, row, or manifold branch. A single 16 ft RJ12 cable is included in the box for the first connection; subsequent boards chain off each other. Because the board communicates natively within the Aqua-X ecosystem, all zone schedules are managed from the same Aqua-X interface used for the rest of the grow environment, with no secondary app, bridge, or protocol conversion required.
