240V Program Device Station

240V multi-function timer module for TrolMaster Hydro-X and Aqua-X control systems.

The TrolMaster DSP-2 is a 240V program device station that integrates with the Hydro-X and Aqua-X environmental control systems to deliver time-based, scheduled control over any compatible 240V load up to 10 amps. Plug-and-play RJ12 connectivity and a built-in LED status indicator make it a reliable, low-overhead addition to any automated grow room build.

What the DSP-2 Is

The TrolMaster DSP-2 is a single-outlet, 240V program device station — effectively a smart, addressable timer relay that lives on the TrolMaster RJ12 bus alongside your other Hydro-X or Aqua-X modules. Any 240V load at or under 10 amps plugs into the DSP-2, and the Hydro-X controller takes over scheduling: specific on/off times of day, recycling timer cycles with or without a cycle limit, or automatic pump activation triggered by irrigation zone events on the Aqua-X.

Where a standard mechanical timer gives you a fixed on/off window, the DSP-2 is software-programmable through the Hydro-X interface — adjustable from the controller or remotely through the TrolMaster app — and its schedule updates propagate immediately without touching the module itself. That matters in a commercial environment where light schedules, fertigation cycles, and supplemental CO2 timing get revised regularly across a season.

Who It's For

The DSP-2 is the right module for licensed cannabis and hemp operators running TrolMaster Hydro-X or Aqua-X as their room controller and needing clean, centralized timer control over 240V ancillary equipment: DE HPS ballasts without a built-in lighting adapter interface, supplemental CO2 generators, 240V exhaust or recirculation fans, water pumps, UV sterilizers, or any other load that runs on a schedule rather than a sensor setpoint.

It's particularly useful in multi-zone or expanding facilities where each room runs its own Hydro-X controller. Because DSP-2 units are individually addressed on the RJ12 bus, a single controller can manage up to 9 program device stations (Hydro-X), 12 (Hydro-X Plus), allowing a build-out of addressable timer circuits without running separate timer hardware per device. The Aqua-X pairing adds master pump functionality: plug a main feed pump into the DSP-2 and it auto-activates whenever any 24VAC irrigation zone fires.

Key Features

Multi-function timer programming: set fixed daily on/off windows or configure a recycling timer with or without a maximum cycle count — useful for intermittent fertigation, timed CO2 bursts, or light-dep automation. Manual override is always available by pressing and holding the button on the unit, so you can force the output on or off without disrupting the programmed schedule.

The onboard LED gives instant module status without pulling up the controller interface: fast-blinking green means the module hasn't been addressed or has lost its bus connection; slow-blinking green means addressed, connected, and currently off; solid green means on and running; blinking red is an overload condition. The overload indicator is a practical safety feature in a commercial room where accidental double-loads can happen during equipment swaps. The DSP-2 is FCC registered and ETL certified, and the global voltage range (100–240 VAC, 50/60 Hz) means it handles North American 240V circuits without adapters or rewiring.

How It Fits a Commercial Build

In a fully integrated TrolMaster room, the DSP-2 handles the timer-driven circuits while temp and humidity device stations handle setpoint-driven equipment — together they cover the full automation map of a flowering room or veg bay. Daisy-chaining via RJ12 T-splitters keeps cable management clean and the bus expandable; the included 16ft and 4ft RJ12 cables plus T-splitter cover most standard room layouts out of the box.

For operators building out new rooms or retrofitting existing spaces, deploying DSP-2 modules alongside Hydro-X controllers centralizes schedule management across all 240V timed loads into one platform instead of a mix of standalone mechanical and digital timers. That reduces failure points, simplifies documentation for compliance walkthroughs, and means any schedule change touches one interface rather than multiple devices mounted around the room.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between the DSP-1 and the DSP-2?

Both are program device stations that add timer-controlled outlets to the TrolMaster bus. The DSP-2 supports the full global voltage range — 100–240 VAC — making it the correct module for 240V circuits common in commercial cultivation facilities in the US. The DSP-1 is rated for lower voltage applications. If your equipment runs on 240V, the DSP-2 is the right choice.

How many DSP-2 modules can I run on a single Hydro-X controller?

The base Hydro-X controller supports up to 9 program device stations total. The Hydro-X Plus supports up to 12. The Hydro-X Pro also supports expansion; consult the TrolMaster system documentation for the exact ceiling on your specific controller version. Multiple modules are individually addressed on the RJ12 bus.

Can the DSP-2 function as an irrigation pump controller?

Yes. When paired with the TrolMaster Aqua-X system and a 24VAC irrigation module, a master pump plugged into the DSP-2 will automatically activate whenever any of the 24VAC irrigation zones fire — no separate pump timer needed. It can also be programmed as a standalone recycling timer for irrigation schedules with or without a maximum cycle count.

Does the DSP-2 have a manual override?

Yes. Pressing and holding the button on the module manually toggles the output on or off, overriding the programmed schedule. This is useful during maintenance, equipment swaps, or any situation where you need immediate control without going through the Hydro-X interface.

What does the blinking red LED indicate and how do I clear it?

A blinking red LED means the module has detected an overload condition — the connected device is drawing more than the 10A rated output. To reset, unplug the DSP-2 from power, remove or reduce the load to within the 10A limit, and reconnect. Do not continue running a load that consistently trips the overload indicator.
