What the ECS-9 Does

The ECS-9 is a single-purpose communication cable that bridges the TrolMaster Hydro-X ecosystem to ThinkGrow LED fixtures. One end terminates in a standard RJ12 plug — the same connector format used throughout the Hydro-X device network — while the other end uses a 4-pin IP65-rated threaded waterproof connector that mates directly to ThinkGrow LEDs equipped with that port.

Without this cable, the LMA-T adapter cannot reach the fixture. The LMA-T plugs into the Line 1 and Line 2 control ports on the Hydro-X controller (HCS-1), and the ECS-9 then runs from the LMA-T out to each LED in the chain. Fixtures are wired in a daisy-chain configuration using plug-and-play connections, so a single LMA-T combined with the appropriate number of ECS-9 cables can manage a large lighting array — up to 256 ThinkGrow LEDs per adapter.

Where This Cable Fits in a Hydro-X Lighting Build

The TrolMaster Hydro-X system uses a modular architecture: the central controller communicates with lighting adapters (LMA units), and each LMA bridges the controller to a specific fixture type using that fixture's proprietary low-voltage control protocol. The LMA-T is the adapter designed specifically for ThinkGrow LED systems, providing two-channel control — one for the full-spectrum channel and one for the deep red channel — so each can be scheduled and dimmed independently.

The ECS-9 is the physical link between the LMA-T and the fixture's 4-pin IP65 port. In a multi-fixture room, you will need one ECS-9 per fixture run segment in the daisy-chain. The 12 ft length is designed to give enough slack for overhead fixture mounting in standard commercial bay heights while keeping cable management clean. If your fixture-to-fixture or fixture-to-controller run exceeds 12 ft, TrolMaster's extended-length accessories or cable rolls address that separately.

IP65 Rating and Grow-Room Durability

The 4-pin connector end carries an IP65 ingress protection rating, meaning it is fully dust-tight and rated to withstand low-pressure water jets from any direction. In a commercial cultivation environment — where irrigation, foliar application, and high humidity are routine — this matters. A non-rated connector at the fixture junction is a failure point; the IP65 threaded waterproof design eliminates that risk.

The cable is specified for operating environments up to 90% relative humidity and temperatures between 32 °F and 122 °F (0–50 °C), covering the full range of conditions found in warm-weather flowering rooms, VPD-controlled veg canopies, and high-humidity propagation areas. The threaded connection at the fixture end mechanically locks to prevent accidental disconnection from vibration or incidental contact during canopy maintenance.

Ordering and Compatibility Notes

The ECS-9 is compatible with ThinkGrow LED fixtures that use the 4-pin threaded waterproof connector port. It is not a universal TrolMaster cable — other fixture types (0-10V, 3-pin IP67, barrel, etc.) use different ECS-series cables matched to their specific LMA adapter. Confirm your fixture's control port type before ordering. If your ThinkGrow fixtures ship with a short converter cable included with the LMA-T, the ECS-9 serves as the longer run cable extending from that adapter to each subsequent fixture in the chain.
